back in late 2001, i was a member of this cd club. i never had MAJOR problems. just once they sent me the wrong cd. i sent it back and had the correct cd sent back to me. i was happy. then, towards the end of December that year, i noticed the site was down and the customer service number i had was no longer working. i found out about a month or so later. that this subsidiary of Columbia House had more or less closed shop (apparently due to the lack of people actually signed up with them). at the same time, what happened was all those nifty people who had joined CDHQ had to have all their member info migrated over to Columbia House. most likely when you had called, they hadn't got yr info migrated over to Columbia House's system. hence someone at Columbia House isn't going to know you from adam (although you would think that being the "parent" company...they'd have ALL your info....). anyhow, my point is, if you would have tried calling Columbia House's customer service number maybe a month later. they may have had yr info then. also, (and this always gets me when people go on about how BMG/Columbia House ripped them off) you should have waited til yr cds arrived. THEN sent payment. look at it this way, when you get an oil change. you pay for it AFTER the job has been completed right? the only time i've ever paid for something in advance like that is when i've won it off ebay or purchased off a large music retailer site like Virgin Megastore, Tower Records or Amazon. when dealing with cd clubs. it's ALWAYS a good idea to pay for your selections after you receive them.
