Centex Homes misrepresenting hardwood flooring defective product defective installation and repairs Manalapan New Jersey
We bought a home from Centex in 2004. The decor department recommended and sold us Mannington, Vermont Maple Plank Flooring for all the areas of the downstairs aside from the bedrooms and bathrooms. The floors installed by TJS Floorcovering. We were told the product was very durable and would be great in our home. Within weeks of moving in in August 2005 we saw that the flooring was much too soft and would scratch with everyday walking.
We began complaining and had sections of the floors were replaced as many as 4 times. We now have worse problems as the boards show significant gapping in the areas that were replaced as well as those from the original installation. We can fit coins into the gaps. We have given them several opportunities to fix the floors but the repaired floors look worse than before the repair. We began to ask to have our money refunded in 2006. Centex admits there is a problem by refuses to refund our money.
Be careful with decor as they will sell you anything to make the sale. The installer TJS does inferior work.
