Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I am the payroll manager for a small business in Virginia Beach, VA.  An employee of ours took her paycheck to a check cashing kiosk at 7-11 as she has done before.   The kiosk allowed her to log in and get to the point where it is processing the check for payment and freezes.  No cash is paid.  She calls for technician and waits for 10 hours to reclaim the check.

The technician insists that since the check is removed and the kiosk froze in mid transaction that she could easily take the check to another service and cash it.  She takes it to Wal-Mart and is refused.  The system is saying that she already cashed the check.

At this point I had not been involved in this fiasco.  This is what she has reported to me.

On July 5 the employee takes the check directly to our bank.  Bank calls us because they see where it was paid on July 1 to Certegy then reversed on July2.  My assumption is that some protocol was not fulfilled with the botched transaction and while the debit initially cleared, it was credited back.  She has the check in hand.  We authorize the bank to cash it after hearing the story.  We believe her and she has the 7-11 clerk as her witness.

On July 12 Certegy Check Services apparently hit the company checking account again.  The employee has called them numerous times to get this straightened out and they say it is all taken care of and/or they hang up on her.

Today, July 26, 2013.  Certegy tries to run an EFT debit of $50, presumably for the return check fee.  I tried to call them today.  First time I called my call was answered by an auto attendant and immediately put on hold then after 3 minutes 15 seconds I was disconnected.  The second time I called I got a young man who did not speak English as his first language and in mid discussion he simply hung up.  We were simply discussing an error.  I suppose it was too much for him to think about.

At this point we have gone to our bank and filled out the necessary paperwork to get this reversed again.

Our employee has been "blackballed" by Certegy and cannot cash any checks with any vendors that use this (for lack of a better word) service.  One wonders if her credit rating has been injured due to this situation.

In my opinion, Certegy Check Services is a questionable business who cares nothing about business ethics or customer service and only wants to collect their outrageous service fees.
