For many years, I have cashed checks of many amounts of money at Walmart. Never once have I had a problem. Sometiimes the amount would be 300 bucks and other times it was 1700 bucks. I would go in, get some cash and the rest placed on my Walmart issued pre-paid Visa card. It comes from me getting an educational stiped for school and living expenses. Well, on Satuday Janurary 25th I went in like I usually do. The gentalman at the counter scanned the check and said it had been rejected. This check mind you came from the University of Phoenix and I know they had the money to cover it. This was a store I had been too many times before. So he said that I could call Certegy. They are the ones who verify their checks for them.

That scares me that a big giant like Walmart would have to use a secondary comapny. Anyway, I called them up. I gave them all my information and what had happened. They checked to see and told me this. The reason my check is being rejected is because that they frequancy I cash checks and the amount (which the check amount was 1078$) was a little high for my normal. Mind you, I have cashed checks at Walmart for 1700$ before and never had trouble. The lady on the other end said that I had no negativity against me, the check was good, and I was identified as who I am, yet their computer database said since I am not their all the time to cash a check that I am denied. Does that make sense to you. They made me feel like I was a theif. They even saw that in the previous months that I had cashed checks of around 700$, 650$, but said since it has been a couple of months they wont cash it and sorry for the inconveince.

I had to go somewhere else to get the check cashed and it cost me 50$. This money was for me to get a new laptop for school since my old one is dead. I was buying it from Walmart. Now, in a couple of weeks I get a bigger check from the school. They did not seem to care that they are losing Walmart money because I will never be going to them again. I am not going to goto a store that uses a company like this. The company said the check was good, I was good, but since I am not a frequent customer, they don't want my business. And the only response I kept getting was "Sorry for the inconvience but its what our computer says so too bad." Well, tooo bad for Walmart since I will never be shopping with them again. I got my prescritions from them every month as well which was 3,000$ a month, then all my groceries, and a lot of other things. Now, Walmart will never get me back again.

Walmart thinks they are screwing you over but in reality they are really kicking themselves. When companies treat people dirty like this they will not shop their anymore. They want to use a dirty company like certegy let them, walmart is only hurting themselves and not the customers they are denying to cash a check their. And banks want to hold checks for a high amount for a few days.

And walmart don't seem to understand that people don't want to wait two days for the bank to deposit their money.  Now thanks to walmart using certegy people will give business to other check cashing places who will get money from cashing peoples checks.

I got to say this is not a WalMart issue as you claim. Your check was denied by WalMarts check approval company, Certegy. Also when you state "That scares me that a big giant like Walmart would have to use a secondary comapny" you evidently dont understand how these check approval companies work. You write or cash a check at WalMart or most any other store in the country, the check is ran through to see if it is a good check. If the check then bounces after approval, the check approval company pays the store and goes after you for the monies. This is nothing new. If you are cashing that amount of checks for your student aid (and that is alot of student aid) maybe you should go to a actual bank and open up and account and not have to pay a check cashing fee.
