If these repair people did any welding on your vehicle without unhooking your battery cables FIRST and being properly grounded, you may be in for a lot more than a dead radio! A surge can be sent through the electronics that will fry components; over time, it can cause a "nervous breakdown" of almost all electronics in the system! One sensor after another can quit, followed by the ECM (or main computer). Lightning strikes on or near a vehicle can cause the same. The vehicle will usually run for awhile, but one thing after another in the electronics starts going down. Each component in these systems is made to run on a certain amount of voltage; not enough, and they malfunction. Too much, and they fry! Just like any other computer. You will be lucky indeed if a dead radio is all you get out of this if they did this procedure wrong. Notice how they were careful to point out that the radio problem had "nothing to do with the work they did". It may be coincidence, see how it goes as time passes.
