I'm in the military, US Marines, I booked my tickets in August 20, 2013. Recently I found out that we are being sent to the Philippines to help with humanitarian aid and I won't be able to make my flight. The flight was booked for Christmas and New Years. I called cheaptickets to see if they would be able to cancel it due to military reasons. I come to find out they do not support the military at all. They offered to give me a credit so I can use toward future tickets but they want to charge $150 airline ticket change fee + $50 cheaptickets ticket change fee +the price difference between the old ticket and the new tickets.
I understand if it's some other reason but they want to me this crazy price for just because my orders got changed and I have to help out another country. Not only that but I brought tickets for my wife and my two daughters also, the price of the tickets came out to $1,545.36. That's for 3 adults and an infant. They want to charge me an additional $200 dollars a person so that's $800 that I'll be paying extra. I can't believe I get screwed over just for serving my country and this US company and United Airlines refused to help out. I will never order from cheaptickets again, and they think they can get away with it because they already have my money. Now I will have to contact my credit card company and see if they can help me out. Never again!

Hi USMC0311,
My name is Lynne. I’m a member of the CheapTickets Customer Relations Team. I’m sorry you’ve had such a difficult experience. Unfortunately, the change fee you’ve mentioned is not a CheapTickets fee – it’s the airline change fee of $150USD per/person. This penalty fee, as well as any fare difference, is collected by the airline according to the fare rules for non-refundable tickets.
Please email us at [email protected] and include the CheapTickets confirmation number, so we can look into your specific situation. We’ll review the airline fare rules for any possible waiver for “Active Duty Military and/or Change of Orders”, and contact the airline on your behalf. Thank you for reaching out. We look forward to receiving your information.
Sincerely,
Lynne
