On 10/13/05 I purchased a vehicle from this company. They say that they do a rigorus inspection on there used vehicles before putting them up for sale. We purchased a 1999 Chevy S-10 supposedly having a 2.2ltr four cylinder 5 speed like my brother wanted. We did not check it out that well but that was our mistake. On the way home it sounded like the window was open and it was all of the way closed. The window seal on the driver side was flapping around and almost coming off. The heater would not work either. The next morning we checked the whole truck over due to the problems that already existed just 30 minutes after the purchase of the truck. Come to find out it did not have a spare tire or a jack or a lug nut wrench. Thank God we did not have a flat on the way home in our newly perchased Used Pickup. Upon opening the hood and to a big surprise the Truck which they said had a 2.2ltr four cylinder did not have even close to that. Under the hood was a 4.3 V-6 VORTEC. So they dont even know what a four cylinder looks like. Even when it says V-6 on the Intake.

We also noticed that it was leaking radiator fluid. Come to find out the water pump is bad and it leaks out as fast as you can put it in. So we drove the truck back to the dealership within 20hrs and wanted it fixed or the contract cancelled. Arguments went from there and they said they were the only ones allowed to cancel a contract and they were not about to do it we bought a lemon. They also dont Start near the blue book value or the NADA value of the used vehicles on there lot they start about 5 to 6 thousand dollars higher maybe even more.

I did not have time to research the pricings on this vehicle and was took full advantage of and purchased a vehicle that was never inspected by anyone there and they said they inspect all of there vehicles. They must have missed that. I will never purchase another used or new vehicle from this place again they dont have professional attitudes or good personal ethics and take advantage of people. So if You buy a used car in New Jersey make sure you have a written contract that you can return the vehicle in a reasonable amount of days and have the choice to cancel the original contract. Cause if You dont You are stuck unless it is in writting from that dealership.

Thank You two on the good advice. I am going to look into a couple of things that yall listed. I know that the 4.3ltr is a good motor I had one in my 1500 and had no problems with it at all. Plus like the other person that gave the constructive criticism said that it was also illegal for a dealership to sell a car without a spare tire so I will also look into that as well. They are supposed to fix all of the problems with the truck since it was not inspected before they sold the truck. But You never know cause they got over on us once they could try it again. I know that when we pick the truck up I am not taking it until I get to check it out and everything is done like they said they would do. THat way I know that My brother will have a good running truck. We also will request them to use DexCool in the Radiator and not reagular antifreeze. Thank You for Your time and thank You for the advice as well.

On the bright side, Ive heard alot of good things about the 4.3litre. Supposedly one of the best engines made. Basically a 350 minus two pistons. One dude not long ago told me many companys retire their 4.3 litre vans at 500,000 with the engine never having "been apart". You can take or leave that, but, Ive never heard anything good or bad about the 2.2 litre. Seems like I heard it was made by mazda tho.... p.s. Your heat aint working prolly caz you got no antifreeze in your heater core, caz your water pumps spittin it out...Water pumps are normal wear and tear, and usually last about as long as a set of good tires..Any mechanic can tell you that. So if your stuck with it, fix the water pump, door seal, and get yourself a spare, and run that baby!

William - Did the truck have a sheet on it that listed how it was equipped and, if so, did the dealership let you keep it when you took delivery? If the dealer advertised the truck as having a 4-cylinder engine, then you have a case against them. Perhaps you still have a copy of a newspaper ad or a printout of an internet ad? Of course some dealerships cover all bases possible and will include a disclaimer that said advertised vehicle may or may not be equipped as described. At this point, your best bet (if you wanted to return the truck) would be to catch them advertising the truck erroneously. Of course this could have been an honest oversight on their part, but if they listed the truck as having a 4-cylinder engine (especially on the sheet that is on the truck when its on the lot), then you can take action. A friend of mine purchased a car from a dealership about 2 years ago. He found it on the internet and anti-lock brakes was listed in the "options include" section of the ad. A month after he buys the car he detects a squeaking sound upon stopping, so he takes it to his mechanic. Upon bringing it to the repair shop, he asks the mechanic to check the ABS as well as the brakes in the event that the ABS isn't working properly. He gets a call while waiting informing him that he needed new brake pads and that he is mistaken in thinking that the car had Anti-Lock brakes because it didn't. Luckily, my friend had kept the internet ad (no disclaimer about the accuracy of the description). He went back to the dealership and asked them to buy the car back due to faulty advertising. At first the dealership refused because he bought the car "as-is" and apologized for the oversight. Then my friend showed them the printout of their ad and informed them that his next appointment would be with his lawyer. The dealership told him to "do what you have to." The dealership then told him to leave. He went to his lawyer and the lawyer sent the dealership a letter threatening to sue. A few days later he received a call from the dealership with an offer to trade the car back (getting what he paid for it) in return for something else on the lot. He drove back down and found something else he liked (equipped with ABS). He accepted their offer and drove away a happy man. I think this is the only recourse you have at this point. It is unfortunate that the other problems existed in a car that the dealership claimed to do a "rigorous inspection" on. Thank you for taking the time to alert other prospective customers. Hope everything works out.

First you say: "We purchased a 1999 Chevy S-10 supposedly having a 2.2ltr four cylinder 5 speed like my brother wanted." Then you say: "Upon opening the hood and to a big surprise the Truck which they said had a 2.2ltr four cylinder did not have even close to that. Under the hood was a 4.3 V-6 VORTEC." Shouldn't you have checked the engine before you bought the truck? You also say: "On the way home it sounded like the window was open and it was all of the way closed. The window seal on the driver side was flapping around and almost coming off. The heater would not work either." Did you forget to test drive the truck? NOW!!! The only part where the dealer is at fault is when they sold a vehicle without a spare tire. They don't have to supply a jack or lug wrench. However, it is illegal to sell a vehicle without a spare. Ok, back to my point. How stupid does one have to be to buy a truck that they think is a 4 cylinder when it is actually a 6 cylinder. This leads me to several conclusions. You didn't take the truck for a test drive, and you didn't even look at anything in the truck, and you didn't even test drive it. You just rolled onto the lot and bought a truck. This has to be the STUPIDEST thing a buyer can do. Don't blame the dealership for your lack of intelligence.

You are right All GM Dealers are not like these people. But this dealer is definetly running a bad buisiness. I like GM products and there dependability But it is dealers like this one that steer people away and give GM a bad name. I have a Trailblazer and I had a 1500 that I sold recently as well. I did not have any problems with it at all. The thing is that I bought my 1500 from a Ford dealership 3 grand under retail and they had cleaned it up and serviced it and I enjoyed the professional attitude of the dealership as well. They didnt even offer a military discount or anything. They just try to get way over retail value of the vehicles and are just real dishonest. I just dont want to see anyone else taken advantage of from this place. Like I said I own a Chevrolet and I Like it a lot. Most of My family owns at least a Chevrolet truck or GM product. It is not GM that I have a problem with just this Dealership. Thank You for Your comments and your time.

GM Certified Used cars may be returned for 3 business days or 150 miles. If the dealer doesn't help, call GM Certified Used Cars at (800) 462-8976. See, all car dealers aren't crooks! LOL
