Checked my bank account online this evening - found a charge of $79.95 from CIC*CREDIT MONITOR SVC. I went to their site almost a year ago (2/13/2003) for a FREE credit report that ended up costing me $45.00 + for the Big 3 reports. CIC charged my credit (bank) card on 2/13/2003.

Today I find a charge for another $79.95 (8/25/2003 charge dated 8/23/2003). I called them immediately @ CIC*CREDIT MONITOR SVC 877-513-4175. They said I forgot to cancel my membership (What membership?) but the woman on the phone said she would take care of it (after verifing myself) and it would take 7 to 10 days to be returned to my account - then I get the first email from them since 2/13/2003 see the following:

Dear Bret,

We're sorry to see you go! We have received your request to cancel your CreditCheck Monitoring Service membership. We are in the process of fulfilling your request.

If you are canceling within your free, 30-day trial period, your account will NOT be charged. If you are canceling within the first six months of your membership, you will receive a prorated credit to your account within seven to ten business days. The credit should appear on your next billing statement.

We hope you enjoyed your CreditCheck benefits, including the online alerts when key information changed on your report. Even though the service may not have been right for you, please remember that we offer an array of instant credit reports. We look forward to serving any of your future personal credit needs. If you have any questions or comments, please email us at [email protected]. Or, visit us anytime at http://qspace.iplace.com/cobrands/293/login_form.asp!

Thank you,

So I called my bank explained what happened and they said wait until the charge is deducted and file an unauthorized charge report, which I will do.

Let me know how I can be of help with the class action suit! These clowns need to be shown how it feels to have some one elses hands in their pockets!!!
