I previously worked at CIGNA in their Dallas, Texas claim office. This company is very underhanded. They will deny a disability claim if they believe that they can get away with it. They are especially quick to deny a claim of a high wage earner because it has a higher reserve associated with it. When a claim is denied by CIGNA, I would recommend that one initially file a complaint with your state's insurance division. Also, make sure that you document all phone contact that you have with CIGNA in a follow-up letter that you send to the Representative that you spoke with. This will let them know rhat you are an astute individual and they will be less likely to try to deny your claim.
