Circle K Bad Gas - Costly Repairs Bradenton Florida
We are from South Carolina and were visiting Florida. We stopped to fill up our tank at a Circle K in Bradenton. A few blocks from the gas station, out car started bucking, shaking, and running very rough. The check engine light started flashing. It was Saturday so no repair shops were able to take the car until Monday.
The diagnosis was bad gas and it is costing us over $1000 to get the car repaired. I went to the gas station and told them the problem, showed the manager the receipt, and of course he denied it and refused responsibility.
My wife called the petroleum inspector and he said he would get someone out there as soon as possible but if the gas was replaced beforehand or if it didn't reveal contaminants, there was nothing legally we could do. He would send us a copy of the report if we wanted it and that was all.
We got a sample of the gas from the tank but of course they only have our word and the repair shop's word about where it came from. It is very frustrating that the gas station can get away with theft, ruining our fuel system, costing us over $1000 as well as lost time from work, and there is nothing legally we can do about it even though we have the receipt and we have the gas from the tank.
