I applied for a citi mortgage around April 4th 2014. The home was to close by July 1st 2014, giving the bank over 0 days to get the closing doccuments prepared and close. Those dates gave citi bank 90+ days to process the mortgage loan and have everything ready for closing on time. Citi failed to have the mortgage processed by closing; they requested a closing extension and then did not meet that closing date. The seller does not have to agree to continue to do business with me as the buyer due to the negligence of citi bank's inability to process the loan within the given time. 90 days is far more time than any bank would need to process a loan. Now, if the seller backs out I will lose over $3500 in fee's, escrow, and money that I have paid with the intention of citi processing the loan on time. Citi had from before April 10th 2014 to July 1st to process the loan, that is over 90 days, citi failed to process on time, the failed to process by the end of the extension date which will cost me over $3500 in fees paid by me to process several papers and events to close. I have contacted the manager and other contacts at the bank and everyone says they are working to process but nothing actually gets done and we are severely past the closing date at this time. I really need to figure out what the problem is. It is not good business to waste $3500 of my funds because citi was negligent on processing this loan. There have been times the processor e-asked 3rd parties for a paper and never called to get the instructions on how to get the paper they were requesting. There was a PUD paper that citi sat on for 3 weeks and said they couldn't reach the association, I called the association and they gave me the instructions the same day and completed the tash witin 3 days. Citi isn't making the calls they need to make. I am not sure if they just don't know how to process or if they are just being lazy. Either way its costing me over $3500 for citi's failed attempt to process this loan. Not because of credit or funds but because they are failing to process on time. Citi requested an extension of closing to 7/10 and is failing to meet that extension date. I am going to lose out on the home and my $3500 because they couldn't process a loan with in an entire 99 days.
