I have had trouble with Citibank myself. Not exactly the same problems but the result is the same, money out of our pockets! I came to realize something about Banks, they all just want to make MORE money all the time. They don't care how! Well, they had to let go of the lovely 22% interest they were charging before the mid80's eventhough they still charge it if they consider you a bad credit risk, so they found other *creative ways* to recoup that. And the other thing I came to realize lately is that the more *convenience* they offer, meaning payment via check over the phone, or via internet, or letting the bank draft it, whatever, this only gives them even more grounds for *distorting the facts* by claiming 'oh we didn't get it on time' and oops here's another over the limit fee!!! I now send every payment over 100 dollars via certified mail/return receipt. Yeah, it costs more and is inconvenient, BUT how convenient is it to track them down later and they deny everything even in the face of proof? Then I call the account status line every day to check if they got it. I even call to see when my next payment is due and make a note of it on my calendar! We have come to count on being billed by the banks and on them being honorable in doing so. That includes them getting our address changes right etc. Well, they have decided, that the more they don't do something, the more they benefit. More Money for them!!! Of course, they would never admit to that! The more we count on them giving us *convenience* the more they will use it to their advantage. That is just how it is playing out in the new millenium. I say, lets show them we can pay attention and we can take control and keep their long fingers out of our pockets.
