Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
It started back in October or November when I received a call from Citifinacial Mortgage asking where our mortgage payment was for the previous month. She was not even friendly about it. I told her we dont have a mortgage through them and her reply was, Yes you do. ( Completely confused ) I began arguing with her and was beginning to think it was a scam to give up my checking information. Questioning more on it, she told me that Citifinacial bought our mortgage and they wanted to know where our payment was. I said I mailed it out to the original mortgage holder. She then started to tell me how I had to pay again!!! I said , NO I DONT! Then she said if I wasnt willing to pay it again then I needed to get a hold of the original mortgage holder and find my payment. I asked, Isnt that your job seeing your the one that bought my loan without informing me? Getting so upset with them I ended up hanging up with her not knowing what to do. The next day almost everyday Citifinancial called my house asking for that payment. I felt like a broken record repeating the story how nobody told us our mortgage was bought, so I sent the payment to the original lender and NOW their expecting me to snap my fingers to either pay twice that month or come up with the payment I mailed out. Feeling harrassed I finally told them to track the payment down themselves and leave me alone. I pay my bills and this was all uncalled for. Needless to say they finally got their payment from the original lender and harrassed me for NOTHING! In my original agreement I found a paper that states both parties are suppose to notify us if/when our loan is sold, isnt that considered breach of contract besides harrassment?

Second problem with them. Every month I pay my mortgage the last friday of the month or before the 16th which is late after that. Last month I paid my mortgage on the 5th. On the 6th not only did I receive a call from them asking where the payment is but a letter in the mail. I told them I have until the 16th before its late so why call me every month before its late asking where its at? They said we like to know when we are getting our money.

They have even asked for me to spend more money to send it priority mail just so they get their money each month faster. I'm getting so tired of the harrassment! EVERY month its something new! On top of that they are not even nice about it. When they bought my loan and was asking for the payment they treated me as if it was my fault! How can companies be allowed to do this!?!?! Any insight of what I can do would be greatly appreciated! I get a average of 20 tele-marketers calling monthly also, I'm so sick of it!

My advice to everyone, if you sign up with Citifinancial, be prepared to be harrassed!

No obligation until you sign the contract.

There is no obligation to go through with it until you sign the papers. Just tell them you have decided to go through another finance company. They will more than likely ask you the reason and just say that you have a bad reputation and that bothers you. Good luck.

I just applied with CitiMortgage for a home equity loan. My mortgage is currently held by Wells Fargo. I have be reading all the information regarding CitiMortgage and now I am concerned. I was just approved! Can I back out of this? I guess it's true, if it sounds to good to be true, it is! Based on your experience I am assuming to cancel all future dealings with them??

Thanks Chris for the info! It's a shame all these companies are allowed to harrass you like they do,especially if your doing business with them. As for you not ever being late, your actually not late. They give you that 15 days as a grace period, its only late after that. How can they give you a grace period but then take it back? If it was the 15th then I think they would have every right to hound me but the 5th, come on! I appreciate all your info on tele-marketers and will put it to use! By the way Home Equity was my original lender also.

I agree with Linda about this company ..for some reason can't seem to get in through their head that a 15 day grace period is just that.

I too have citifinancial mortgage. our loan was sold to them in December 2002 from another ripoff company Homeq. These two companies for some reason can't seem to get in through their head that a 15 day grace period is just that. 15 days. I cant understand why they have to start calling your home on the 2nd of the month looking for that months payment and the next months payment. When we closed on our mortgage the loan officer and title company went through all the paper work and explained there is a 15 day grace period to pay your mortgage every month and we have a copy of the document stating just that. Citifinancial calls every month regardless. Now we pay all our bills on time and are NEVER LATE EVER!!!!!!!!!! to me this is harrassment. If this is the protocol for mortgage lenders then when the loan in closed they should be upfront with you and state " we start harrassing on the 2nd of the month regardless if a 15 day grace period is there or not because we dont honor that" what a bunch of you know what. the greedy aholes. in regards to your receiving telemarketing calls, I too was receiving countless calls and have finally put an end to them. first of all you need to contact 1-800-5-optout which is the number for all three reporting agencies. a lot of the solicitations comes from them. Second, you need to contact the Direct Marketing Association and have your name and phone number removed off all their lists as well. you can find their information on the internet. Third, contact all your credit holders and review their privacy policy. you will be surprised at how much information is sold and rented through your creditors especially credit card companies. This takes a lot of work but it is really worth the effort in the long run. I dont receive credit offers anymore and if I do I email that company and have them remove my name off their solicitation list. they usually email me back and comply with my request. Like I said, it is a lot of work to back track your name floating around but it can be done. Also; all magazine subscriptions you receive, email them and have your name removed off their lists as well. I hope this helps. GOOD LUCK!!!
