Around the end of January I was looking online at debt consolidation companies. I received a phone call from Arthur Dunkan at a company called City Lending Group. He said that I had been approved for a $20,000.00 loan at a 6% interest rate and my monthly payments would be roughly $436.00 a month for 5 years. I thought this would be great until he said he would need a collateral payment sent out via a money gram to a woman in Canada. He faxed over the contract with all the information and I signed it and faxed it back to him.

After work that evening I visited the nearest Wal-Mart and sent out a $1900.00 collateral payment. I called as soon as I left Wal-Mart to give Arthur the Reference# on the money gram I got his voicemail so I left a message. He called back later that night and left me a message (which I have saved on my phone) stating that the loan has been approved and the paper work is being processed and I should have the money in my checking account by then end of the next business day.

I received a phone call from a man named David Miller the Account Manager (his extension is 174) stating that after further review of my file the silent investor had requested another collateral payment for $1900.00 in order to approve the loan. At that point I refused to send another payment. He said if I am requesting a refund I will have the money returned into my account no later then February 24th. I asked if I could send the money so quick to there silent investor then why is it not possible for them to turn around and money gram it right back to me. He responded by telling me that they only do payables once a month and that falls on February 24th. I then requested a letter stating that I would be receiving a full refund by the 24th.

I then began looking at the Better Business Bureau to see if there was information on this company and I noticed that I was not the first person to go threw this. I also looked at a web site that will list consumer complaints on companies and I found several stories with the same situation I am in. I can no longer locate there web site either. I never received the refund into my account. I don't know how people can do this.
