We bought a home from Clayton Homes in Henderson, NC April 2004. I was expecting a baby in Sept. We did not get our home delivered until Nov of 2004. We had already made 2 payments before they ever brought the home to our property. And making rent payments where we were currently living. The well was dug where the house was suppose to be be sitting, so we ended up having to move the house to accomodate the well. The house took 3 weeks to get setup. Afterwards we requested a walkthrough for defects. The sales rep, replied there was no need for a walkthru, and left the keys to the house in the kitchen drawer. We called and asked about finding defects in the walkthru and was informed to make a list of everything that was wrong that nmeeded fixing. In short it is Nov. 2005, the warranty is gone and the list has never been taken care of. Because the defects were not fixed, we now have walls soaked with water all the way thru including insulation, floor and carpet soaked with water. I called the manager of the lot and he said they would take care of it, now it has been a month later(nothing taken care of) no return call. I now have mold growing in my walls from this problem, not including interior doors falling apart, cabinets falling apart, buckles in walls, and two more pages of defects that have not been fixed. I contacted the regininal manager and his reply is the warranty has ran out so there is nothing we can do... All of this was suppose to have been fixed before the warranty ran out. Im afraid my baby now 1, is going to get sick from the mold and mildew growing in the walls... We want a new home and we want Clayton Homes to give it to us.. Someone please help!!!!

Your fight has just begun, but there are things that you can do. First, read my ripoffreport on Fortune Homes. Been here. Next, contact hadd.com, they often have support persons for your area, and they are extremely helpful in giving you avenues to follow. Just because your so called 'warranty' has run out, if you have notified them of these problems prior, then they are still obligated to fix them. Also, different states have different laws pertaining to this. It can be a long fight, but ultimately, you CAN get your home fixed. My home name is duffndame, and I pick up my cable service through charter. I prefer dot net over com. If you need a shoulder, put it all together, and you'll be able to find me. I've just managed to get my home fixed, including an entire new roof, new lino, new exterior doors.... a quite expensive little project, but my home is now safe and secure for our children. Documentation is EVERYTHING, persistence is an absolute neccessity (95% of those with comlaints give up.... the rest of us get our homes the way they should have been to start with.) Good Luck to you, and let me know if I can be of assistance in any other way. DON'T GIVE UP!!!!
