In early April I ordered a clock mechanism from clockworks.com. I received confirmation of my order on April 2nd and my Visa card was charged the same day. It is now September and I have not received either my part or a refund.

I have contacted clockworks.com a number of times. So far they have told me they had a fire and orders were about a week behind (late April), the owner was "out of the country for three months to find my business in a shambles upon my return" (early June), "order being shipped on 7/9" (early July) and "All orders will be shipped ASAP" (early August).

I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau of Western Massachusetts in June. It appears from the two follow up letters I received from the BBB that clockworks.com has failed to respond to the BBB. I also filed a complaint with the Mayor's Office of Consumer Information in Springfield, Ma. (at the suggestion of the BBB).

Setting up a web site should not be a license to steal from the public. Surely after 5 months the company can either come up with parts or a refund. From the number of copies on one of the e-mails I received (the "order being shipped" one) it is apparent, at least to me, that I'm not the only consumer clockworks.com is not shipping to.

Clockworks.com is owned by a James Stoudenmire and he also does business under the names theclockman.com and clockman.net. I am writing to strongly recommend you do not patronize this e-theif.
