I got a car from JD Byrider in 2012. The car was too much and by the time I paid for a 2004 Ford Taurus, it would have been $25,000 they would have got for that terrible car. Like I left for maintence issues and the mechanics left the back windows down to get rained it. That smelled of mildew for my kids to ride in the back in. Well with all I was going through financially by a divorce. I was a single mom working two jobs to support two kids. I was stuck and had a car getting ready to break down in was a 1988 Dodge K-car. I had to have reliable transportation to get to and from work. JD Byrider wanted $385 a month, me to come in every 2 weeks and make a payment to total the $385.

I was making the payments but got my hours cut back and lost my side cleaning jobs. So I went to a lawyer and filed bankruptcy on all my debts I had. And as of 8/11/2017 I see a number from 1-507-242-4797 saying I had a complaint against me from Coastal Loan & Appliance Company saying I needed to settle my debt with them from 2012. By Febuary, my bankrutpcy had been filed and cleared. So why are they calling as of now from 5 years ago?

I turned the car back in August 2012. On the papers I owed 9,141.00 left and the clean car value when I returned it was 4,594. The car had 75,000 miles on it to be a 2004 and when I parked it was 82,000 so I didn't have it long. I went to an attorney David Cox Lawgroup and filed for the bankruptcy in December 2012. JDByrider-CNAC was top of the list to bankrupt. Its was final by January 13, 2013 that I still have my paperwork from the attorney. Which I called back to that 507 number that they have to patch me through three representatives to pull up my paperwork. Then lady that they would send off to the company of what I told them and I should be getting something in the mail from them 8-14 business days. I told her I shouldn't have to hear anything with them and anything that gets sent or they call again I will be in contact with my attorney. I remarried in Feburary 2013 and they was calling me by my previous last name. My husband settled debts he has in 2012 and got something in the mail in April saying he didn't settle. I mean this is ridiculous and a shame us middle class people that work hard enough, get taxes to death, have to pay out the butt a month just to have healthcare (just in case). And people like these so called creditors that call trying to trick you getting more money.

If the debt was discharged in Bankruptcy then it should have been covered and a quick call to your attorney should take care of this.  If it wasn't included in the bankruptcy then you may be able to still add it and again your attorney should be able to help.

However, since it was a secured debt did you keep the car?  Did you reafirm the debt?  As in some cases the debt may have still been valid and you may still owe it.

The common thread here...you need to talk to your attorney.
