Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
Several years ago I brought and paid for a special tag for one of my automobile. This year I was charge 35$ for a special tag plus 20$ for what they call a tag fee.

In reality I pay 55$ to the county/state for sticker that cost .001 cents. In the future if I continue to keep your special tag it will 35$ plus 20$ every years.

To afford this ripoff, at tag time you have to trade the special tag for a standard tag to afford the 35$ charge.

I would like to thank the GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF REVENUE for changing the law, but  forgot to inform anyone they did so.

To be on the safe side double check everyone ( business, government, law enforcement)
there all trying to rip you off.

The various Georgia Tax Offices are a source of complaint both for the Tag issue and for the property tax collection.  The Cobb Tax Office is poorly run as I have experienced first hand in 2008-9 and in 2012-13.  I am in the process of setting up a blog site at http://cobbcountytax.blogspot.com/ and I am looking for information such as yours and other consumers for this site.  I hope to have ready for posting here some additional info on my problems.  I am awaiting the restults of a Georgia Open Records Request and once that info is on hand I will post here and also on the referenced blog site.

As one further comment on procedures in filing protests, the first step in a property appeal is to the Board of Equalization in the county where you have the property.  My research on such BOE's in Georgia show that consumers complain that they are useless and simply rubber stamp any Tax Commissioner ruling.  I can verify this per my own experience of a few days ago with such an appeal.

The BOEs are totally useless.  For any results you have to go to the Superior Court of your county and of course at $250 an hour for an attorney you are at an imediate disadvantage as the Tax Office uses the free taxpayer paid services of the County Attorney.

it was ALL over the news for a few weeks back when they first proposed increasing the Tag fees as a way to offset budget shortfalls.  I do agree that paying $20, much less the additional $35 for a vanity/special plate, per year when the cost of manufacturing that tag plus dozens more was recouped in the initial payment is ridiculous.  There isn't much we can do about it though.  Govts are scrambling to make up lost income and taxpayers are where they get it.
