Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
My daughter got a letter in the mail. it was from the College funding center. We decided to go because i want my daughter to go to college and i thought it was a good opportunity because it is hard to save for college especially when I have no education and not so good of a job.

A year and a half went by and not once did we recieve anything from the company. we've tried contacting them but we could never get a hold of anyone. Then one day I received a postcard saying that the business was going out of business.

I was so furious. then about two months later my cousin informed me that her son had gotten the same letter in the mail. i advised her not to go because it was just a rip off. they ripped me off of a $1,200.

FTC has Frozen ALL ASSETS for College Funding Center

#2Consumer Suggestion

Wed, February 25, 2004

Government action has been taken against College Funding Center, who has been around since 1985/1995. It's about time. All assets are frozen, and now Court cases are pending to distribute refunds. SAVE ALL documentation of your proof of payment, and any involvement with College Funding Center, and make copies. The primary State Attorney General involved is located in Texas. The Austin Divisions phone is: 1-512-463-2191 or Fort Worth 1-817-731-9811, but you really should call the Federal Trade Commission at 1-800-FTC-HELP. Specify the amount you lost of $1,200 stolen from College Funding Center. You might also go to their site www.ftc.gov to fill out your online Complaint Form, just for the record. They provide a direct link to the form on the main home page. The company was sued by the Federal Trade Commission in May 2003. This is probably why they are now closer to giving out refunds, and it is important to contact them, and get your money back. I won't waste time giving you College Funding Center contact info, because ALL phone numbers are disconnected, and they do not respond to mailings. For the record, I want you to have these key names, should you decide to take your own action or alert others, who have children going to college. The Principals are: Mr. Edward F. Jacobs, Albert Pitman (Manager), and Mr. Al Barron-President/Principal. They are the ones the Federal Trade Commission has taken to court for the suit. Have all of this information lined up when you fill out that online form. The amount you're reporting is a lot higher than others. You might want to print all of this out. Now, this next address is IMPORTANT because this is the direct representive, trying to delegate refunding. You might want to call or fax this person. His name is Gary D. Kennedy-FTC. Here's his contact info: Gary D. Kennedy Senior Litigation Counsel Federal Trade Commission Suite 2150, 1999 Bryan Street Dallas, Texas, 75201 214-979-9350 (Voice) 214-953-3079 (Fax) [email protected] Please pass this information on, and keep in mind, you don't have to pay out money for your child to receive or qualify for loans and grants. Hope you get your refund.
