I was considering Collins (before i started digging up all this dirt on it) and yes, they do list 9 thousand-something dollars for books. Perhaps that includes other materials, but still; yes, thousands for books.

I am a current student at Collins College. I am in the PC Networking Program. Now I know most of the complaints I have read on this site involes the Graphics side of the College but there are some things I would like to address. First off. My teachers are always on time and very knowleageable about our subjects. They never voice any unwillness to teach or be there. Second. Our equip is up to date and fully functioning. They have a purchase contract with Gateway for the laptops the students get for their programs. Part of the contract is a 5 year uncondional replace program. Better then any computer replacement program I have seen. Third. I have not attended a class with more then 10 people in it yet and I have finished my associates and am going on to my bachalors. Last. I have been working on PCs for the last 8 years and was already rather knowleadgable about them before I enrolled. So I am not new to the field and would be able to tell if the teachers did not know what they where teaching. The books also had alot of useful information in them and I have keep all the books I have received. Now like I said in the begining. Most complaints seem to do with the graphics departments but these are my personal experiance with the college.

Tom, Tom, Tom... I work at Collins and yes, we have students that are marginal. But, we also have some real good ones. In fact, I have two students that worked on the last Star Wars movie and one that has worked internship with a shooter for National Geographic. I also have many students with just good basic jobs in the field. And I have students that just didn't want it enough to make it. Collins is like any other school. as a student you get out what you put in. By the way, where would you go to get good students to hire at an entry-level. Name a school. And last, it sounds like you are expecting kids right out of school to have 10 years of experience. You, as an employer need to be realistic in your expectations and accurate in your screening.

They are poorly trained and usually unmotivated. You, on the other hand didn't do your homework before enrolling in this school. Nothing on your list is legally actionable, and I seriously doubt you spent 'thousands' on your books. The credits don't transfer (to where??). Of course they don't transfer it's a LOSER school, for LOSER people. If you could have matriculated at a real college you wouldn't be in this mess. My guess is that you couldn't qualify, and now you're paying the price.

I recently spoke with a Lisa Napoli regarding this issue. She is a reporter for a big newspaper. Perhaps she will write a story about it. I also have written a report on here. We are trying to collect signatures for a class action, if you are at all interested.
