When the roofers returned on Wednesday, November 25, 2009, they spent most of the morning playing music and picking up by hand the shingles and tacks that were on the ground, they did not finish the roof and placed a tarp over a portion that was not completed. The roofers did not return until the following Tuesday, December 1, 2009, to finish the house, where they sat in front at the curb and did nothing, then left. They returned again to sit in front of the house and once again did nothing and left. I was told they did not have enough shingles to complete the job. They returned again on Wednesday, December 2, 2009, and completed the last portion of the roof that was covered by a tarp. During this time they were specifically told that the swamp cooler was to be removed and not reattached to the house, they reattached it and left. But they failed to reattach the trellis to the roof that covers the back deck. Part of the companies contract was to replace the roof on the shed in the backyard. this was not completed until a full 2 weeks later, where the weather mane was attached by one nail and fell over.
The area supervisor Craig (with his family), came out to examine the roof and listened to the complaints and assured the owner and I that these problems would be corrected, that the original person who did the estimate was in the wrong and disappeared and the company could not locate him, and his measurements were the reason why there were not enough shingles to complete the job on the first day. These repairs took another month to complete. I would like to mention Craig's condescending attitude about me being just the tenant(his words), were rude and disrespectful.
The roofers left trash, tacks, work gloves hammer and nails for a nail gun all over my back yard, not to mention used my snow shovel and ladder to clear the snow off the roof to take pictures to prove completion and dropped the shovel into the trees in the back yard, another was purchased before it was found.
The work done is sub-standard at best, there are nails sticking out between the roof and the gutters that are causing water to drip down and ice to form on the front walk The shingles are curling up everywhere and the trim is gapping.
The finished product appears as though the roof was not replaced and I still have contractors coming to my door offering to give estimates to fix the roof. A one day roofing job turned into a 3 month unpleasant experience from start to finish.
The company has decided to not even address the lousy workmanship or the unprofessional behaviour by their crew. Their only response has been:
Craig (project manager)-The guy before me just left and I just went by his measurments I should have checked them, and we didnt break your tv, and your just the tenant and the owner will pay.
Brian (office)-This just landed on my desk this is really Craigs problem, and the job has been paid for and passed inspection.
General Manager-I dont believe that we broke your teleivision, it was just a cosmic thing, and the job has been paid for.
I would advise people who are getting their roofs done to do two things:
1. DO NOT HIRE COLORADO ROOFING AND EXTERIORS
2. DO NOT PAY until every inch of the job has been inspected by you and all things that were sub par are corrected.
