In April of 2007, I was commissioned to created a Web site for the Comfort Inn in Ashtabula County, and thought it was on the up and up. However, after more than a year of hand-wringing, I found myself on the wrong end of a losing battle.

Since March, I have be uncompensated for the hosting costs incurred on the Web site I created. Moreover, the domain names I procured for for them, comfortinnashtabula.com and ashtabulaevents.com, were renewed under my credit card and, again, uncompensated by this hotel.

After sending invoices three times, I was told that the matter would be referred to the Accounts Payable departments. And after a conversation with an individual to that ilk on June 3, 2008, I felt that my matter was resolved.

However, a month and a half past, and still nothing.

On July 16, 2006, I sent the following letter:

To Whom It May Concern:

This letter is to inform you that the Web site located at www.comfortinnashtabula.com and www.ashtabulaevents.com has been suspended and the domain names taken under new ownership, due to lack of payment.

Attached please find hard copies of three (3) e-mail messages sent to my previous contact, Eric Angra, regarding this matter. I had been assured that this would be forward to the proper contact, which I thought was reiterated in my phone conversation on June 3, 2008.

I, unfortunately, had been mistaken.

Per the attached invoice, you have thirty (30) days to remit the payment that has previously been requested. Otherwise, I will permanently remove the pages I have created and offer the aforementioned domain names to the highest bidder.

The reaction I received to this was less than helpful. The person I spoke to a Varsh (sp?) Angra stated that they had not only never received such a letter, but to cancel the account, and abruptly hing up the phone.

So, I suppose this is how this Mr. Angra conducts business.

If that is the case, then, my advice to those visiting the Ashtabula County area, please, do NOT stay at this particular Comfort Inn!

#2UPDATE EX-employee responds

I worked for the same Motel in Astabula, and Eric Angra was both my supervisor and friend. He has always been ciurteous and exacting in his business dealings. I have never witnessed or heard of anyone else wirnessing anything less than totally ethical and professional behavior both on and off the job. This person who is casting these unfounded aspersions is providing nothing of substance to justify his false claims. He won't even leave his name, using "concerned vendor" and "to whom it may concern" instead of proper names. If one reads the claim, one will notice several "hotlinks" in blue to click on. When clicked on, they bring you to internet sales pitch spots. It is obvious that this person for some reason has chosen Mr. Angra as a screen to hide behind while using Ripoff-Report for his own devices- namely re-routing innocent readers to commercial sites. I was there when Mr. Angra did business with one particular web-site providing servicer, and was witness to this guy's being told that his services were no longer needed. That's the polite way to throw someone off the job. I am assuming that this anonymous poster is one in the same as that person. I remember that this entire matter was over a trivial thirty bucks, and find it hard to believe that this guy insinuates that someone from the motel actually used his card to renew a website that he had already been told was of zero use. Ask yourself: If a person is in the business of setting up websites, how in the world could such an entity ever get into the position of some client being able to have access to his card for renewal? This whole thing smells very badly, and the family who runs and owns that Motel, the Angras, do not deserve to have some lowlife be able to post such a libelous and defamatory accusation. Especially without leaving a name. You would think that the owners of this site would mandate that a poster leave a name or a company name at least, before being allowed to slam someone's good name and besmirch their reputation. I have urged the Angras to bring a lawsuit against this person, and I most certainly hope that they do just that. Meanwhile, it should suffice that you all now know the truth, and the person who posted the defamatory remarks now knows that he is going to be contacted by an attorney if he does not issue to this board a retraction of his post immediately. My name is John L. Flynn, I live in Derry, New Hampshire, and my email address is [email protected].
