Around Jan 30, 2001 I made a $49 cash deposit at my local Ace America's Cash Express, [4639 Magazine St. New Orleans, LA 70115 (504) 899-0074] their authorized agent, for new service. When I called the number Ace provided to connect service they claimed they couldn't find any record of my new account number in their system. I faxed them a copy of my receipt and they said they would look again. I spent the next few days trying to get my service connected, hearing excuses like "We're really backed up".

When I typed my account number into the automated system it came up under the name Martinez - a delinquent account for someone else. I became so frustrated with their incompetence, I asked to speak to a supervisor again and told them "don't bother to connect new service just refund me my $49 deposit back." They said, "OK, no problem, but it might take a couple of weeks to get it because we're really back-logged right now." I kept phoning and faxing them for the next THREE months with no results until I finally gave up, concluding this was a rip off racket. Thanks to this website, now I know I'm not their only victim. I hope they get sued up the wazoo.

Ripped Off by Comm South

Happy to say that after filing a complaint online to my local Better Business Bureau in New Orleans I finally got a refund check from Comm South for my original deposit. No explanation from Comm South as to why it took them an entire YEAR to mail it to me. Watch out for these fly-by-night phone companies.
