On Feb 15th I closed my Compass Bank account due to their ridiculous holding periods and predatory practices, and just general suckiness. On one occasion it took them TWO BUSINESS DAYS to credit my account with a CASH deposit. CASH! This bank is the f***ing worst.

On Feb 15th I went into a Compass Bank location to close my account. The rep joked about my big .33 withdrawal. GUESS THE JOKE WAS ON ME, because what happened next? I'll show you:

02/21/2008 OD CHARGE $38.00 $-81.00

02/19/2008 NSF CHARGE $38.00 $-43.00

02/18/2008 CHECK CLEARED $0.33 $-5.00

02/15/2008 SERVICE CHARGE $5.00 $-4.67

Better believe I'm fighting this, and if they try to put it on my credit report, I am disputing it. This bank is a cruel joke. I'm not paying one dime of my hard-earned money to the wretched Compass Bancshares. Their software is implicitly designed to rip you off at every corner. I went to Wachovia, who have online banking that is in the 21st Century, TRULY free checking with check card, more than 5 locations, ATM useage agreements with Gate Petroleum, and staff that are actually helpful. When I go into a Wachovia at non-peak hours, I've NEVER been left standing there for 20 minutes by tellers, a regular occurance at CompASS Bank.

02/21/2008 OD CHARGE $38.00 $-81.00 02/19/2008 NSF CHARGE $38.00 $-43.00 02/18/2008 CHECK CLEARED $0.33 $-5.00 02/15/2008 SERVICE CHARGE $5.00 $-4.67 You would have received one fee for your $.033 withdrawal; OD / NSF fees are not charged on top of service charges. Something (you had authorised) was RETURNED for you to receive another fee. And you would not see a 2/15 transaction on 2/15. Transactions post at night, so it would show up on your online banking the next business day.

Dear Obvious Bank Employee, Let me clarify... There was no service charge for 5.00 on my online 2/15 statement the 30 minutes before I walked in there to close my account. As for the rep at the location I mentioned, he was cordial and professional and took care of it. I'd had an account with Compass for seven years, never had a problem with them, the past two or three years though, they've just slipped phenomenally. I'm loving Wachovia, who's online banking is actually in the 21st century, and can't say I will ever return to Compass.

You want to fight this huh? Well uhm you have the proof right there that it was your mistake.... 02/21/2008 OD CHARGE $38.00 $-81.00-also in your signed agreement.... 02/19/2008 NSF CHARGE $38.00 $-43.00 -...of course this exists-someone withdrew their account. 02/18/2008 CHECK CLEARED $0.33 $-5.00 -oops you wrote a .33 check when you didn't have .33 available......good job there... 02/15/2008 SERVICE CHARGE $5.00 $-4.67 ..--obviously here you already messed up when you forgot to deduct your service charge from your register.... SOME PEOPLE LOVE TO POINT FINGERS AT ANYONE BUT THEMSELVES...I DON'T GET IT...
