Computertraining.edu All Ceo's, Officers, Managers, and Assistant Managers Abrupt termination/Excessive Hiring resulting in excessive lay-offs/Laid-off within 90 day probation Newark, Delaware
I was hired by Computertraining.edu as an Assistant Director of Admissions on Aug. 24th, 2009. I left my previous position at Citizens Bank and was offered a full-time, permanent position with this company, at least I thought so. After being hired, I noticed that many candidates were being interviewed for the same position and all of the candidates were starting at 36k plus bonuses! I thought that the company must have been doing well if it was reasonable to hire over 20 people. I believed in this up until the day when over 20 of us were called into a conference room only to be told that this would be the last day we'd be working for the company. The reason for our termination was due to "ecomonic reasons". I fully understand that there is an ecomonic crisis going on across the nation, but for a company to conduct a mass hire only to let their employees go in a few weeks is beyond unreasonable. Many of us felt that this company only hired us on a temporary basis only to reduce their workload and increase their sales quotas before the fiscal year. Speaking for myself, I was terminated on the 89th day of working for the company. I found it rather ironic that on the day the termination took place (Nov. 23rd) I arrived home to find my Medical benefits card. My intention for reporting Computertraining.edu to Ripoff Report.com is to warn potential job-seekers to refrain from applying to this company. Secondly, I want to warn potential students that want to obtain an IT position to refrain from applying to this school. If you happen to go to their website don't attampt to visit their campuses!!! Their Online Entrance Exam is a tool used to get the applicant to visit their school. While at the school they will attempt to run your credit for a loan approval for tuition. Please be advised there is no finacial aid no do they accept grants! Don't get sucked into this trap!!!!

Your experience with ComputerTraining.edu or .com as they were until recently, is exactly the same as many of us who have been in the same position. I encourage you to ask your fellow ex-employees to speak up too.
Sadly, this is not the first time ComputerTraining has treated employees and students with no respect. I was also an Assistant Director of Admissions there for some years and was even told I would be able to receive a promotion just before it ended for us.
Before you were hired in August, there was a mass layoff in April 2009. At that time, the company was not earning enough and suddenly cut over 50-60 employees. In fact, literally the day before the cut, there was a meeting for the entire Admissions Department, in which we were told that the company was growing and taking an online approach, so we would soon be divided into teams of Assistant Directors for each function.
The following day, we were suddenly told that because of the loss in profit for the quarter, we were closing the admissions department and a small crew would remain to handle the final students and appointments set. Numerous Directors of Placement and Regional Directors of Placement and Admissions were cut then also.
Surprisingly, the company turned around within just about 3 months and hired enough Assistant Directors to fill the department again. Now, they have done the same thing to you and many more people. You see now, why they didn't call the same employees back. This company is intent on using people to earn money and nothing else.
Students and potential employees should see that this company does not have their interest at heart when they eliminate the staff dedicated to placing students into jobs, rapidly change the curriculum and tuition, and hire and lay off staff without any planning, thought, or consideration for the people affected.
ComputerTraining.edu knowingly admits students who don't have the computer experience and background to get into the careers they advertise. Then, they take their money while cutting the training and support they need to succeed, close campuses, throw away employees, and run. While there have been many serious and dedicated employees working for the right reasons, the actual company is a ripoff to all involved.
