Just one day after I purchased a health insurance policy from a known and reputable company I was contacted by an individual from Congressional Health Plans. I only know this because after the conversation I had with this agent I called the # back. He told me he was with some sort of review board with my new insurance company and that I had purchased a DISCOUNT PLAN. He informed me that they had found a better plan for me. They even went so far as to tell me that they would cancel my new policy for me. Thats when they began to pressure me for my credit card # to enroll in their new better plan. I immediately hung up. I looked up the agent to see if he was really licensed and I can't find him listed with the State of Florida (where Congressional Health Plans is based). His name is Ed Jacobs & HE IS NOT A LICENSED AGENT. I called back 15 minutes later and asked to speak with the office manager who identified himself as Matt Herman. Mr. Herman again told me that I made a mistake and had enrolled in a discount plan. I again hung up, looked up their website www.CongretionalHealthPlans.com and checked it against the insurance boards listing of legitimate companies. As I assumed, they were not to be found. This is not the way to do business. They lie to customers telling them that any company they are currently with is wrong for them and that they have better programs. They policy they presented me with when I again called back was supposedly an Assurant major medical policy 80/20 with 10 drug copays and 20 office visit copays. I contacted Assurant and an actual licensed agent told me that unfortunately with my diabetes I was not qualified for a plan of this type. Congressional Health Plans , Insurance Group USA , 1052 NW 3rd Street, Hallandale, FL 33009 Phone: 1-866-326-5461 ARE LIARS, UNLICENSED, AND NEED TO BE STOPPED!

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY.

I had a similar call. Just this time from Mr. John Parks. I was told that I will get a health insurance plan. What I got was a discount plan and tons of trouble. This company is a big scam. Once you "signed up" they HANG UP on you or put you ON HOLD FOREVER when you try to cancel or talk to anyone. However, they keep charging your account. I've sent several emails and faxes no respond. I'm sooo upset that I was so stupid to do business with that company. Do not listen to any of the sales stuff they tell you. It's all lies. There is NO 30 DAY trial with refund. You even don't get a chance to get someone one the phone and some numbers they give you are simply out of service. And THEY WILL KEEP CHARGING YOUR ACCOUNT.

I already informed the Office of the Attorney General of Florida.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY !!!

I too have diabetes as does the poster. It's a fact that insurance companies will deny such a condition for individual major medical coverage. If not an outright denial the insurance company could charge me a huge rate up or deny any and all claims related to my diabetes and the meds I take. So I looked for an alternative. I found Congressional Health Plans. I did my homework thoroughly before purchasing. What they specialize in is a limited benefit health plan. Their agents, benefits consultants, sales reps, DO NOT HAVE A REQUIREMENT TO BE LICENSED. This is true because technically a limited benefit health plan/discount plan is not classified as insurance.

Nevertheless, such a plan provides me with access to healthcare; doctors, hospitals, specialists on a very good network of providers when otherwise barred by tradition insurance underwriters. I have had my plan for 8 months now and routinely use it. I go to 2 different specialists twice a month. I can't tell you how much it has saved me in both doctors' visits and prescription drugs. I even lacerated my hand and required 40 stitches at the emergency room and the claim was honored in full.

In a perfect world I would love to have a full blown major medical paid for by my employer. The reality is I am uninsurable. I would be lost without my Congressional healthcare plan. Sounds like sour grapes and retribution. In your OWN WORDS you stated you are not qualified medically for a traditional plan. I would rather have good coverage and access to healthcare than to have no coverage at all and paying everything out of pocket. Thanks Congressional.
