On Monday, November 15,  2010, my wife and I purchased a Lane Love Seat from Conns Electronic Store in Burleson Texas, in response to an ad we viewed  in the Sunday Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

At the time of purchase, we asked the salesman named John what sort of guarantee comes with the sofa.  We were told that we have 30 days in which to notify the store of any problem that we may have with the sofa.  There are no noticeable signs that announce a warranty program or restrictions on house hold furniture.

We made the purchase, and  it was delivered on 11/17/2010.

However, the very next day, November 18, we returned to the store and notified the salesman John Bradford and the store manager, Jose Villafane, that the sofa was defective because it rubs and makes a noise when you try to rock or recline.  The salesman (John) said," well the store floor model has been sat on quite a bit and yours probably rubs because it is new and not broken in..

We then agreed to keep the sofa a while longer.  The condition of the sofa did not improve because the frame is warped.  We subsequently returned to the store after 2 weeks and re-complained that the Love Seat was defective and we were unhappy with it and please refund our money..

The manager, Jose Villafane, would not refund our money and said Conns did not refund on furniture or bedding purchases unless there was a defect.  We explained to him that it was defective and we had notified the store the very next day following the delivery.  Mr. Villafane then said all he could do is send some one out to check the condition of the Love Seat and only if it was defective, could he do anything.

A person named Ed from US Quality Furniture Services came out and took 4 pictures of the sofa but did not touch it with either hand or attempt to examine it in any way.  Each time I pointed out an issue with the sofa, Ed nodded in the affirmative and agreed with me about each issue.  He took 4 or 5 photos and then departed. He was in my house less than 5 minutes. Before Ed departed, he said that on Monday the 6th of December the store manager would have received his report and he agreed there was a problem with the Love Seat..

Monday the 6th of December, we returned to the store and the Conn's store manager,Jose Villafane said the inspection showed that there was nothing wrong with the sofa ....that ED reported that we were simply unhappy with it and wanted something else.

I then invited the store manager, Jose Villafane to come to my house and examine the Love Seat and inspect it for himself and then he could readily see and hear that it was defective.  Mr Villafane then stated he could not come to our house....and that he could only re-contact U S Quality Furniture Services again to send someone else out.  I might add I was not given a copy of the report supposedly prepared by Ed.

Today is Friday the 17th of December  and no one from Conns or Ed from US Quality Furniture Services has contacted us.

I have  contacted the better business bureau of Fort Worth, Texas via e-mail, and have filed a complaint with the Texas Attorney Generals Office acusing Conn's of Deceptive
Trade Practices.

I will also follow every legal path available to me to correct this injustice.  I ask you to...please investigate before you buy anything from Conn's.  Perhaps you can save yourself or someone else the sorrow of doing business with the Conns Electronic store in Burleson.

Thank you,
