Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

On January 14th I went to Conn's Furniture, I had filled out a credit application online and was approved and excited to get the few pieces of furniture that I needed to complete my home.

Chris Espinoza (acting GM) met me at the door, took me to a computer and looked up my credit application.  Chris explained to me that I was approved for 4,000 in credit and asked me what I was shopping for. I took Chris around the store and picked out the pieces I needed.

When it came time to do the paperwork Chris became very sketchy, but I didn't know it because he explained everything to me clearly and kindly. However, Chris was LYING to me; Conn's offers OPTIONAL insurance for disability, loss of income, and even death, this insurance is optional and should be presented to the customer as optional, Chris presented it to me in this fashion, "The best thing about our furniture is that it comes with insurance, that way if you should ever lose your job, die or have any problems we will cover the furniture!" He did NOT state that it was optional at all, and DEFINITELY did NOT state that it would add 226.00 to my bill. I think it's disgusting to lie to a consumer because the consumer will tellt he world they were lied to.

Upon delivery of my furniture the Conn's delivery man treated my home like his own, he unplugged my speakers from their charger and plugged in his phone and he also asked me about my home smelling like medical marijuana. I told the delivery man that I wasn't too clear on why he was bringing it up and he asked me to purchase some marijuana. Fortunately, this isn't about me, but about them; but I will include that I am almost 40 and I live in a state that allows and legalizes medical marijuana.

I called Chris to tell him about the rudeness of the delivery man in my home, Chris got defensive because I told him that I would NOT be giving himt he "55555" rating that he requested on the survey call that I would be receiving. Chris is a REALLY nice guy when he is taking advantage of you, but incredibly RUDE when you realize it. Chris stated that he had nothing to do with the warehouse and that my survey was about the store experience not the delivery experience. No apology, no empathy, NO INFORMATION on how to contact the warehouse or their management.

Conn's DOES NOT care about their customers, they care about their SALES.  After 6 days of calling customer service and the store I finally got a phone number to the warehouse and spoke with Natalia, Natalia is the ONLY PERSON IN CONN'S AZ that CARES about customers, she was appalled by the delivery man's actions and she immediately began to apologize and state that she would get to the bottom of it.  Natalia called back within the hour with a resolution and a promise to take care of the issue with the delivery man, she also calmed my nerves about possible retribution.  Natalia even went above and beyond and refunded my delivery fees because this is not the experience that Conn's DELIVERY & WAREHOUSE (Store doesn't care how you're treated once they make the sale) wants to provide.

Chris also oversold me, he sold me a boxspring for a "floating bed" that doesn't require a boxspring, knowing his own return policy he still sold me this non-usable piece of furniture. I believe Chris works on commission and gets points or money for insurance sold.

Again, when I tried to speak to Chris about all the misinformation and disrespect he immediately changed his tune.  This guy was so incredibly nice when he was taking advantage of me in the store, once I read over my paperwork and had a bad delivery experience Chris was the devil himself, speaking down to me and being so rude. I would not suggest anyone shop at Conn's Tempe, it's a swindle from the start. But if you do need furniture and want a decent finance plan, go to Conn's and AVOID CHRIS LIKE THE PLAGUE. Kevin is very helpful and he is versed in the OPTIIONAL insurance, ask for Kevin.

In the end, I don't even think I'll make a payment to Conn's, they took advantage of me and tried to swindle me, now I am in possession of their furniture. Not that bright to try to swindle the people you expect to pay you on time for 24 months Chris. I could live my entire life without allowing Conn's back into my home to get their merchandise. Thanks for being such a d*******.

I had a new home that I had built and used conn's to get appliances in Jan 2017 only because they offered 12 mos same as cash. Debbie my representative slipped the insurance AND $1900 worth of service contracts into my $7300 purchase. When it was caught AFTER the fact because they have you sign on a tablet that jumps from sign here to sign here spot automatically, I advised them I own this house, it has insurance and have been jumping through hoops for 3 mos to get the insurance off the acct. I had to go to the store, fill out 5 forms myself to cancel the service contracts. 11 contracts, 1 was a $219 contract for a $419 microwave. Seriously, over 50% of the cost of the item for a service contract? RIPOFF. I then had the girl make me copies and she said she'd send them in via fax for me. How nice of her. Only she never faced them and simply tossed the forms in the garbage. When found the money still owed on thee acct I provided the copies and a nice video of me in the store giving the forms to the nice lady and her giving me copies back to the AZ Atty General. Those service contracts are off my acct. We won't even get into how a Conn's delivery person stole from my home. Yes, Conn's is in my opinion a criminal organization that tries to prey on the lower educated. Difference is, 23 yrs working in finance and they were delivering to a brand new 1/2 million dollar home. I'll use the interest free option, but will never set foot in their store again.

I almost exposed & defended my illness ... Almost made a case for medical marijuana ... But then I remembered that THIS is a report about POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND BAD SALESMENSHIP.

The funniest thing about this entire situation is the fact that the warehouse management was appaled by their employee's behavior. They apologized and issued me a refund for all delivery fees.

Now, my marijuana induced mind had the sense to call Conn's and tell them I was bringing in the check issued to me for the delivery and that I would like that and the insurances removed from my contract so that my contract would be fair. My hope was to not have the optional insurance and not have the delivery fee that was refunded removed so as not to incrue interest over the period I am paying.

Conn's REFUSED to remove the delivery fee from the contract and they are still trying to get me to jump thru hoops for the insurance to come off. I did not go to Conn's looking for a negative strike on my credit, I had a great year in 2013 and really don't NEED the bad credit. However, the customer service is so poor at this company that I refuse to have a 2 year relationship with them.

I have called every phone number Associated with this business and still, NO HELP, NO CALLS BACK... If I make a choice to wash my hands of it, so be it.

My illness & medication doesn't effect anything in this report. Had I of said I had Vicoden on the bathroom counter & he asked for some would you call me a pain pill junkie? ... I'm a 37 year old woman, I believe I am able to consciously and responsibly maintain my mind and medication.

Thanks for your essay on medical marijuana use and abuse, super informative although I only read the first paragraph because NOTHING you had to say has anything to do with the poor salesmenship that was displayed to me at Conn's furniture. Consider turning this into your english professor & find something to do with all your spare time.

One last thing I can point out is that I did have to have over 2,000.00 in work done on my new home upon moving in. I had 2 different plumbing companies in my home, the cable company, two handymen, one property manager, an electricion and air conditioning repairmen. NOT ONE OF THESE WORKERS MENTIONED MY HOME "REEKING" OF MARIJUANA OR ("Duh") asking to purchase some of anything in my home.

Because NOTHING in your report is a ripoff. Ok so the delivery man asked for some of your weed. If your going to smoke it in the house and have your house reeking of it, youre going to have to expect it. DUH!! Sounds to me that you just dont like ppl asking for your weed. Yep you got $4000 credit. Good for you. But you ALSO smoke medical MJ which means you either have a serious medical condition, or you used the system and a favorable doctor to get your way. Odds are that you also reeked of weed when you went in. They would have smelled it off of you. So YOU getting the "Oh s*** I got arrested" insurance would be a good idea. Im betting you were also high as a kite when you went in. I have never known ANYONE who smokes med grade MJ to NOT be blazed out. So odds are you also agreed to the insurance but know that you have sobered up you dont want it.

You have invalidated your own post by admitting your drug use. We cant take your report seriously because your mostly high. You have a SKEWED perspective. Meaning that being high means that you dont SEE reality the same way as people who are NOT high. Its your thing and you do what you do. But dont come on a complaint site and spout your issues because we all know youre just not in your right mind.

Besides all that you go right ahead and scam them for what is LEGALLY their property. Go right ahead and dont make those payments. Im sure when they come to your door asking for their property back, you will just shut the door in their faces and go chief somewhere. That way since it is OVER a misdermeanor price. They can not only have you arrested for theft. But they will KEEP YOU from your weed. Along with destroying that credit, and possibly your lifestyle, you go right ahead. You will just go and get high and find some other way to scam.

Im all for Med grade MJ. There are people who legitamatly need it. Odds are that you dont and your abusing the system. SO go smoke a bowl and giggle over your nefarious plans to steal furniture. Its your life do as you feel you should do. But dont come here looking for symapathy AFTER admitting your med grade drug addiction. It invalidates your own argument.
