I couldn't agree more with you about Conn's and their sleazy "credit" program. I also found it easier to apply and qualify for a home loan (refinance) and I think it's just "dirty" that a company like Conn's thinks they need to call your friends and relatives and tell them they need a "credit reference" from them before they can sell you an $800 fridge. I flat out cancelled my sale and told them to stick it and that I'd never set foot through their doors again. The whole Conn's "culture" just seems more suited for the pawn shop industry. And you are correct: the best way to stop this kind of nonsense is to not shop there and to spread the word to friends and relatives and co-workers to not shop their. A sizeable down-turn in sales at Conn's will get their attention if nothing else.
