First of all, Jayson Hymes is a nasty, arrogant piece of work masquerading as a doctor.

Second of all, why would I go to a Board-certified Pain Management Specialist referred to me by a highly reputable hospital if I really wasn't in SEVERE pain and just wanted drugs? That would be extremely stupid. I would go to Craig's List, a pill-mill in a bad part of town, a seedy park, or maybe outside a nightclub and buy the drugs without trying to convince a Pain Specialist that I actually needed them.

One would think a Pain Specialist would be able to separate the people with actual pain needs from people who are just doctor-shopping for pain meds. Not this one. Plus, he is a bully, being mean just because he has all the power and his patients have none.

As soon as sat down in his office, Jayson Hymes greeted me with, "I see no reason for you to be in so much pain!"

Try two separate patella (knee-cap) breaks in one month, and two separate knee surgeries (HUGE incision both times), and now it is not healing correctly -- looks infected, my body is apparently reacting to one of the wires they imbedded to fix it and it has developed one HUGE lump and a smaller lump. Jayson Hymes diagnosed me BEFORE asking about my medical condition or looking at my knee. After I peeled back my full leg brace he BRIEFLY GLANCED at my knee and said something along the lines of, That looks bad. You should get it looked at immediately!

But of course, I had no reason to be in so much pain.

I am a 54 year old, college-educated, articulate woman. I am not drug-seeking street trash. I could easily have explained what was going on with me had Jayson Hymes been at all interested in learning the details of my case. As it was he just told me he would prescribe half the pain medication I had been given when I left the hospital 2 weeks before (my third hospitalization in 6 weeks;

I had gone into the hospital the last time precisely because they could not control my pain as an outpatient and made me check in to the hospital just to get decent pain control.) In a very nasty way he said something like, "Take it or leave it -- if you don't like it I'll give you names of other doctors you can try." Of course I let him treat me this way because I figured half the pain medication was better than none.

The truly tragic thing is that I had gone to him, and waited over two weeks for the appointment, for actual HELP with pain control. I am truly in excruciating pain all the time, and I need help with finding solutions to this dilemma. He didn't even believe I am in pain, let alone try to find non-drug solutions for it, if he is uncomfortable prescribing opiates.

I am in so much pain that I ended up in the ER the next day due to extreme pain and worry that my knee is infected. I was prescribed a new drug in the ER called Nucynta. If there is a new drug to use for pain, why hadn't Hymes bothered to try it on me?

I went home after the appointment and told my story on a "rate your doctor" website, not this one, because I was so frustrated. Obviously he reads these sites everyday, because a couple of days later I called the office for something and I was told he had fired me as a patient. I can't think of any other reason than my single bad review.

FYI -- Be prepared that Jayson Hymes' "New Patient Packet" contains several "mental health" questionaires which I now very  much regret filling out honestly with really embarrassing, revealing information. This information is now in his files forever, and I am worried about that. I very much regret giving him this information because he is such a nasty little man and his office staff is obviously so disorganized that something could happen with this highly confidential information that would hurt me in some way in the future. So I would think twice about giving him your information.

Also, the office staff are not the best -- be prepared to be on hold a looooong time when you try and call. And for some reason when I called for an appointment the first time, I was told I'd have to wait over two weeks. I took that appointment. At the end of the week I got a reminder call that I had an appointment the next Monday (an appointment time I had never been offered.) By then I couldn't take the sooner appointment, and they refused to explain to me how the mix-up had occurred.

Now on to find a doctor who at least has a pleasant attitude, and who might possibly help me with my pain issues.
