Consolidated Smart Systems contracts with apartments, who in turn force their tenants to use CSS in order to get cable TV. They charge separately, and this is NOT included on your cable bill.  Then they bill the tenant's credit card at random intervals, that seem to make no sense.  When you call customer service, you can tell they are used to getting a lot of complaints about the same thing, because they are just burned out on answering the same questions.  My elderly father was a victim of this type of monopoly, and when he called, they told him that it came with the cable service, and he had to pay it, and that it was actually NORMAL.  The problem with this type of service, is that it goes with the cable service, so you can't get out of it.  They will just continue to charge what they want, and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it, AND they let you know that you are trapped the minute you have any contact with them. Not to mention the manager of the complex, 2ho is trapped by the owner's choice of provider, and I would not  be surprised if the owner of the property gets an incentive or percentage based on how many tenants they can rope into this scam. I don't know if it has anything to do with the provider, I am thinking it is just marketed to apartment complex owners.
