We purchased a timeshare from Coral Resorts in March. After numberous calls and an email I have never spoken to anyone but a receiptionist who told

me everyone I asked for was on their phonelines.

I have left messages and have never received any calls back. Now I'm concerned about using the property if no one ever is available to take a phone call or answer my emails.

I am also concerned that the contract is different than what we were told. We were told that we had a week each year to use for our own purpose at one of the Coral Resorts. We were told we could rent this week out to others or the resort would rent it for us for a 10% fee. Now I read that the "Developers Week" is available for us to use, if there is a vacancy, and it can't be rented out and we can only use the resort every 3 years. At this point, we have no maintenance dues until 2011 but after reading another buyers comments I'm concerned that we might be charged more than we were told.

There is also a note on our contract that says can be used in 2010. Now I'm not sure that is true either.

We have never received our "Rewards" card or a deed for this property.

This morning I called the Better Business Bureau for Hilton Head and discovered this resort has an "F" rating. They have had several complaints filed against them.

Coral Resorts makes good

Folks,

I had the same problems with Coral Resorts. However, I have good news. I worked w/ the SC Attorney General's office and the South Carolina Real Estate Commission to open a formal complaint. After a number of months of research and review, the SCREC contacted Coral Resorts and they agreed to offer us a full and complete refund of both the TimeShare purchase price and our Maintenance fees that we had paid. Based on this refund, and the dissolution of our contract, we are fully satisfied w/ the resolution that Coral Resorts has provided us.

Thanks,

We purchased a time share through Coral Resorts back in April 2012.  We have vacationed several years in Hilton Head are were so excited about the ability to continue to vacation there every year with out the hassle of finding a place to stay.  I wish we knew we were going from the frying pan to the fire.  Over the last two days we have discovered most everything others have written.

Our first payment comes out in 16 days and I am going to do everything in my power to correct our mistake, silly me for thinking that Coral Resorts was an upstanding business with honest employees! Like most people these days, we are financially strapped and put the money we would of used for our vacation toward our down-payment thinking we would be able to reserve our condo 30 days out with no problem, this per our sales person Julie Stefan who assured us, even showed us the available condo for the month of July.  What a joke!!

I feel like such a sucker because we just didnt know.  We have family members who have time shares and have had absolutely no problems but we are finding out the hard way (and expensive way) that Coral Resorts should not be trusted.

I wanted to know what action you have taken or if you can give me any information.  I am looking for help and willing to help others who are in our same situation.  I have contacted others who have recently experienced these same issues and would like to put something together.  Thank you for your help!

I have a similar story, but was taken while on vacation in Hilton Head.  I can tell you that the SC Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation (Office of Investigation and Enforcement) has secured a lawyer and is currently investigating these sales practices and customer complaints thoroughly.  I spoke with their office today and am currently building my formal complaint to submit.  I would encourage you to visit their website and do the same!  They can be reached at

Thanks!

It's nice to see reports like these, and they certainly are helpful.  But consumers need to consider forums (e.g. TUGBBS).  Forums are often free and consumers (i.e. victims) have a means to discuss issues and contact one another.
