Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I reside in Atlanta, G. and I have a loved one that was incarcerated in September 2009 in Boston. I was told in order for me to communicating with them, I had to set up an account with a company by the name of "EVERCOM" a.k.a. {For Every Thieves} the telecommunication company that handles All the connections and billing services, so that you can talk to your loved one. So I contacted "EVERCOM" at 1-800-844-6591 on 9/23/09 it was an automated system, with no live person to talk to, and was told that the minimum fee to set up an account was $50.00 plus $6.95 which is their RipOff fee, for God knows what. So, I paid it, then I was given my confirmation number. I was NEVER EVER told of any rate plans or fees, or how many calls I was entitled to per the $50.00 amount I paid, But WAIT it gets better, just wait until you read the rest of the scenario.

Now I was able to speak to my love one, which I did, (6) times, in which (2) of the calls where dropped calls, then (2) days later my loved tries to call me and guess what he gets a recorded message stating that the calls are BLOCKED. BLOCKED "Are you kidding me ?" so I called "EVERCOM" up on 9/25/09 went through the automated system again, and the prerecorded message states there where "OVER FEES of $18.85 "WHAT" and that that I had to pay an additional $50.00 to be reconnected, so I did, and the service was restored, but for only (2) calls. So I go on line find their 1-800# call them up, spoke to a representative, that barley spoke english, and was told that the reason, I was being charge so much is because the rate I was being charged was $21.75 per call plus 17 cents a minute, I WAS "FURIOUS" I asked for a manager, who to was barely unable to understand english, and he told me, because I live in Atlanta, the fee was based on where I lived, and considered long distance, I explained to him that this was "Theft by Deception Practices" because the automated system doesn't explain any rate or fee plans based on the location you are calling from or to, and that I was going to contact my attorney, and the BBB {Better Business Bureau} for fraud. He said that the company was working on that issue, to include that information on the automated system, but in the meantime, what does that do for me, I asked him, and of course he had no resolution. So then I asked him about my (2) dropped calls, and he said he could give me an instant credit, even if he could look at my account, and see the (2) dropped calls, because it was handled by another department who does an investigation, and that I wouldn't see a credit until the next billing cycle. "CROOKS and THIEVES"  Now I just received a bill on 10/16/09 stating that I have an outstanding bill for $34.34 for WHAT I say to myself. This is a Total Ripoff. So for all of you going through the same thing I am, please send your report to Ripoff.com and contact the BBB, and your attorney, because these deceptive practices have to stop immediately.

Thank you

Marixza

SEEMS TO ME WRITING LETTERS FROM JAIL WOULD BE A LOT CHEAPER THAN THIS.

THE BEST THING IS TO NOT BE IN JAIL IN THE FIRST PLACE!
