I am going through the same thing and will file a separate report but they notified my insurance company that my home was vacant when it was not, they cancelled my insurance and force placed a $16,000 policy. First they tried to tell me that my insurance company notified them that it was vacant and said they were cancelling. They I found out they lied when my insurance company sent me a copy of the letter that Countrywide sent them cancelling my insurance because they said the home was vacant. When I talked to them today, they say they inspected the home 4 times and it's vacant. The home is full of furniture. Not only have I been here all along but I've had many houseguests. I have proof via my bank debit trail of exactly where I have been and I have been in my area almost every day for the past 4 months. They will not take the forced insurance off until they send another inspector out to make sure that I'm here. They can't tell me when that will be and I can't do the repayment program until they do so I could lose my home over this. The rub - one of the people in the insurance department told me that Countrywide owns the insurance company that writes the forced insurance on your home! This is insane. How can the government let them own the insurance company that they are screwing you with. Isn't this a conflict of interest? They are cancelling peoples insurance for no reason just so they can place the forced insurance, make more money on you and it puts your home into forclosure. What can be done?

Like you my loan was purchased by Countrywide from Century 21 after 2 months. I bought my newly constructed home in December 2006. In July 2007 I was diagnosed with Temporal Lobe Epilepsy after serving 13 years in the US Navy. I was then forced to move in with my family in KY for care and supervision. I continued to make every mortgage payment although I did not live in the house. During that time I was also trying to find a Real Estate Agency that would work with me. Due to the Mortgage crisis I was unable to sell the house for what I paid for it. March 1, 2008 I entered into a short/compromise sale with Coldwell Banker, again with my account being current. Countrywide jerked me and the realtor around with lies, promised phone calls-never returned, etc... I called every other day to check the status b/c they would not talk to my realtor even though they had the release of information. One day CW would tell the realtor my case was sent to a different negotiator and someone would call him back(this happened 3 times) and tell me it was still in the process of approval, another 30 days, etc... April 9, 2008 I was told that the short sale was disapproved as of March 27th! I spoke to someone on 3/29 who told me it had been reassigned again. Are you confused yet? Do you see the ineptness of this multi-million dollar Corporation! Every week it was something. I finally had enough and contacted the VA who is the ultimate approval authority and had the sale approved within 1 working day. I finally closed on my home 4/28/08 with no help from Countrywide. Thank God for the Veterans Administration! Since that time I have received collection calls for May's payment and just today a call from Landsafe Appraisal in Texas stating Countrywide orded another appraisal for a home I no longer own. 5/21 I was told that the account was closed and paid in full; not to worry. Today I find out it's not closed out and it takes time..blah blah. I've filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and received a phone call from Corporate Office, Ashley. She investigated the phone calls and told me I would no longer be harrassed; however, she would not give me a date when the account would be closed and assured me this would be a bad mark on my credit! Awesome!!! I have done everything right and Countrywide did receive thier money. I don't understand how they can get away with this. If I do not receive a closure letter by next friday, I'm getting an attorney and going to the media. I'm sure Fox News would like to hear about Countrywide's unethical and inappropriate business practices. This company tried to force me into foreclosure instead of letting me sell my home! In most cases it would have cost them more $$ to foreclose, but my loan was VA backed and they knew they would be payed in full. This can't be legal. There's more to the story, but I'm sure you're like me you're tired of reading and I'm tired of typing. Take care. If I get a class action lawsuit I'll let you know. God Bless us all!

The fact that you were told no assistance would be available to you unless you became 3+ payments behind had nothing to do with the servicer. That rule is one of many set by FHA & the mortgage insurance companies that insure your loan against default. Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae are not as strict with their default requirements but then again, it's harder (for some) to get one of those loans due to the higher expectations in credit scores & down payments.

I appreciate your comments, but no.I had only made 2 payments on the loan when Countrywide bought it from Webster Bank. There was no adjustment due to my escrow account, it was because Countrywide wasn't honoring the 2-1 buy-down agreement. They increased my mortgage payments the EXACT amount of that buy-down agreement. This was about the 5th house I have purchased in my life, and I do understand payments can change due to mortgage insurance, taxes, etc but this was simply not the case. They bought my loan and screwed me out of my house. Simple as that. I'm glad they are being investigated for fraud and I hope that somehow through all of what is happening to the company now.I can get my credit restored. The house is gone and I have moved on but their total lack of accountability has ruined my good credit and now I have to RENT for the first time in my adult life. This company needs to be held accountable for their actions.

The payment can go up for many reasons..Where you escrowed? Your taxes or insurance amount could have gone up. Or force-placed insurance due to lender not having copy of current DEC page (showing paid)from your insurance company? Just a thought..... Even with a fixed rate loan the payment can change if you have one of these things happen. I know I have my mortgage loan thru CITI Mortgage ( was with ABN Amro till buyout) and it is a fixed rate at 5.00 ( I have had it for a while~ got it in the refi boom about 7 years ago) on a 30 year term with escrows and my payments do change. Fort Wayne loves to raise property taxes a horrible amount (200% since I bought my house) and it affects my payment big time. I pay almost as much now in property taxes per month that I pay in P&I........ and that is with a mortgage and homestead exemption!!

No, this loan was not an adjustable rate loan. It was an FHA 30 yr. fixed. I did have a 2-1 buydown agreement and my payments were not supposed to change for 12 months, after which the payments were to increase only by $50 for the next 12 months.

One thing you did not mention is was this a FIXED or ADJUSTABLE rate mortgage. If it was an Adustable rate then it could have been a valid re-adjustment. If it was not an adjustable rate, then what was the reason they gave? Were they trying to add on insurance, taxes?
