I can believe what you are saying about this company. I've never done business with them, but what happened to me shows just how uncontrolled this company is. Three years ago I bought a 6 acre piece of land with a mobile home from a lady who had bought it at an auction years ago. She had paid it off and owned it free and clear. At that same auction, the 5 acre lot next to hers was sold to another man who eventually built a home and several outbuildings on it. After the auction, when the county offices registered the deeds, they inadvertently switched the names on the deeds between the two pieces of property. She technically owned the 5 acre lot with the house which was valued at three times the value of her 6 acres. In the meantime, the man on the 5 acre lot got a mortgage through Countrywide using his land/house as the collateral. But, since the deeds were switched, Countrywide mortgaged the wrong piece of property. they never verified the property they were loaning against! They now owned property that was worth substantially less than their loan! Since the 6 acre lot was owned by Countrywide as lienholder, they had to release interest in it before the deeds could be corrected so I could buy it. It took a full eight months to clear up the matter. My mortgage broker spent countless hours on the phone with a large number of corporate offices without ever getting the matter settled through the lower minions. He finally got someone in the company's president's office to take note and get things done after pointing out the large difference in the value of what they thought they owned against what they really had! So I do believe your side of this story. Countrywide is certainly a company to steer clear of to avoid a ripoff since they seem to be so incompetent!

I used to have Countrywide as a Mtg. Holder and when I went to sell my home and submitted a payoff demand they immediatly sold my loan off to another company thus delaying a accurate payoff demand for 3 months and that held the sale/escrow up on my home for 3 months. Upon my finally getting the demand from the company they sold the loan to the after they received my demand it was way way off. According to the new holder they had to go back to Countrywide and get a detailed accounting which took more time and much stress upon me as I had a legal contractual obligation to the buyer and could be wide open to damages. I was told that this is common practice. That it is the norm for Countrywide to sell the loan upon becomming aware that it is going to be paid off because they will reap a higher profit. I dunno how true that it but I will NEVER use them again. The stress it caused me was incrediable and the potential legal liability even scarier.

OK -- I'm new here -- I am STILL so mad at Countrywide -- and I was not finished writing my report when the computer either froze or took the info... so... here is how they were ripping people off: WHEN YOU HIRE PEOPLE THAT DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING -- ESPECIALLY WITH SOCIAL SECURITY AND IDENTIFYING INFO PAPERWORK -I.E. - 1008s, 1003s, TILs, etc... And you expect them to enter this information from files into the computer system at Countrywide with NOBODY following up on these people -- not even asking them or checking on them to even see if what they are doing with these real estate files is what they were hired to do, then it is nothing but problematic. First, Countrywide was taking anyone they could find that could type -- Second, they should have sought out Real Estate Licensees -- i.e. -- Sales people who had a license -- but looking for work or TRAIN IN A CLASSROOM instead of handing them files and walking away basically -- leaving them to their own devices, just saying they had to enter 3 of them a week as a goal. These people did not even know what Real Estate documents WERE, did not understand the significance of accuracy in entering the data from those papers -- i.e. -- the actual notes themselves -- into the company database -- and countrywide did not want to deal with answering their questions, clearly as the so-called "trainer" just talked basically a mile a minute to herself, flipped rapidly through computer screen after screen, and discouraged with a rather condescending voice -- any questions about what we were there to do... when enough questions were directed at me, because I have seen these real estate documents before (I was the only licensed professional there) and did understand their meaning and did understand the importance of accuracy -- unlike some in the group who just said they did not care and were going to just enter anything they thought in order to get to the next screen -- because we were being timed -- It was a real disaster. Now imagine the actual consumer -- someone whose file got mishandled by one of these folks -- first of all, the information in the computer would be wrong. second of all, trying to get someone at that company to take the time of day to give a rat's a** about answering LEGITIMATE QUESTIONS AND BEING HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THINGS IS CLEARLY IMPOSSIBLE. AS AN EMPLOYEE MYSELF, I WAS CONSTANTLY GIVEN THE "RUN-AROUND" WHEN I HAD LEGITIMATE TRAINING QUESTIONS. MY THEN SUPERVISOR, ZVART, JUST PICKED UP THE PHONE AND CALLED THE TRAINER WHEN I TRIED TO TALK TO THE SUPERVISOR... AND WE WERE AT AN IMPASSE -- BACK TO SQUARE 1, QUESTIONS BEING IGNORED, PEOPLE WHO NEEDED TO UNDERSTAND WHAT THEY WERE DOING WERE NEGLECTED, AND I ENDED UP MAKING A MANUAL FOR THEM AND MYSELF SO THAT WE COULD JUST NAVIGATE THROUGH THEIR SYSTEM. THE OTHERS ENDED UP MAKING COPIES OF MY NOTES. BUT, MY JOB TITLE WAS NOT THAT OF A TRAINER. MY JOB TITLE WAS NOT THAT OF A COMPANY SPOKESPERSON TO TAKE ACCOUNTABLILITY FOR THE COMPANY'S MIS-MANAGEMENT. MY JOB TITLE WAS NOT SCAPEGOAT EITHER, FOR WHEN THINGS WENT WRONG DUE TO THE LACK OF ACCOUNTABILITY AT THAT PLACE. THERE WAS REALLY NOBODY TO ASK FOR HELP. NOBODY TO HOLD ACCOUNTABLE, EITHER... KNOW WHY? BECAUSE ALL OF THE EMPLOYEES THERE -- INCLUDING MY SUPERVISOR, ZVART, AND THE TRAINER, WERE "TEMPORARY" WORKERS. PEOPLE HAVE BEEN WORKING THERE FOR YEARS AS "TEMP" WORKERS, SO THE COMPANY THEREFORE IS NOT LEGALLY LIABLE FOR THEM. THE COMPANY ESCAPES ACCOUNTABILITY BY NOT HAVING REAL EMPLOYEES. THE COMPANY ALSO MIS-MANAGES PEOPLE'S REAL ESTATE LOAN DOCUMENTS -- REAL IMPORTANT, REAL SENSITIVE DATA -- THAT GET MISHANDLED BY PEOPLE NOT TRAINED PROPERLY, AND THE END RESULT IS THAT *** NOBODY ***** IS HELD RESPONSIBLE. THIS IS UN-ACCEPTABLE. AND THAT IS THE RIP-OFF. BECAUSE IN THE END, IT IS THE CONSUMERS WHO ARE GETTING HURT. THAT PERSON WHOSE LOAN FILE GETS MISHANDLED AND MISTREATED, WILL HAVE THE WRONG MONTHLY PAYMENTS, WILL HAVE THE WRONG PAY-OFF INFORMATION, WILL BE PENALIZED WRONGLY BY A COMPANY ONLY CONCERNED WITH MAKING MONEY BUT NOT BEING HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR IR-RESPONSIBILITY. AND ALL THE TEMP WORKERS THERE ARE TECHNICALLY NOT EMPLOYEES, SO THEY CAN NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE IF SOMEONE'S LOAN DOCUMENTS GOT IN-CORRECTLY ENTERED IN THE COMPUTER AND NOW THAT PERSON IS PAYING FOR IT UNFAIRLY. THAT'S THE RIP-OFF. THAT'S NOT RIGHT. AND I'M A FORMER TEMP WORKER MYSELF WHO HAD IT UP PAST MY TEETH WITH THESE COMPANIES THAT DO NOT WANT TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR MIS-TRAINING, MIS-HIRING, AND MOST CERTAINLY FOR THEIR ACTIONS. SO IF SOMEONE ELSE IS COMPLAINING HERE ABOUT WRONG LOAN INFORMATION, WRONG LOAN STATEMENTS, WRONG PAY-OFF INFORMATION, WRONG BILLING PRACTICES, DECEITFUL BILLING.... I WOULDN'T BE SURPRISED -- I WITNESSED IT FIRST HAND. IT SHOULD BE STOPPED. I WONDER JUST HOW MANY OTHER "TEMP" WORKERS AT THAT COMPANY AND FORMER "TEMP" WORKERS CAN TELL YOU ABOUT THE INSIDER SHENANIGANS GOING ON THERE. DEFINITELY NOT A PROFESSIONAL WAY TO DO REAL ESTATE LOANS. AND SOMEONE SHOULD STOP SUCH A COMPANY FROM PRACTICE AND HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE. EVEN IF THEY HIDE THEIR MONEY OFF-SHORE UNDER A CORPORATE VEIL AND EVEN IF THEY HIRE "TEMP" WORKERS TO AVOID BEING HELD RESPONSIBILE FOR THEIR ACTIONS. IF IT REALLY IS SUCH A "LEGITIMATE" COMPANY, DON'T YOU THINK THEY WOULD BE HIRING REGULAR EMPLOYEES?
