Years ago I had gotten a CCB card. They never told me it was a secured credit card. I got the card and found that there was $980 charged on the card. I called CCB I asked them what it was about they explained all the "fees" and that a majority was a security deposit. I told them I didnt want the card then, it was misrepresented, the woman on the other end said, and I quote, "tuff, you got the card now, you have to pay for it". Well I ignored the card, never paid the card. I had those people calling me EVERYDAY asking me for money. I explained I never wanted the card. They basically said the same thing that woman said. Only one was stupid enough to threaten legal action, I told them he better be serious and I better receive a court motion within 10 days. He backed out of what he said. Then all the sudden they stopped calling me. Odd? nope, thier collections agency owned by them started calling me and harrassing me by this time the ammount was $1400 plus late fees and such. I still refused to pay. I told them I explain to CCB that I really didnt want the card and it wasnt even activated. They stopped calling, a month maybe two went by, some other collections agency calls me on the same debt, I told them Not my debt, I never used the card, did not activate it and to provide proof that I activated the card with signature. They told me that they didnt have to provide proof. I argued with them finally they hung up. Then I got a letter in the mail from that collections agency stating the ammount and balance and at the top it said proof of purchase? what? That was even more dumb than the guy who threatened legal action. Anyway, Calls stopped. Later I needed to get my credit report. ALL the collections agencies and CCB were reporting on my credit report all with different ammounts all within $10 difference. Not only that but several inquries that were just there to be malious. 15 different line items on each report and 10 inquires. I wrote to the credit reporting agencies and told them what had happened. 2 had put the collections and CCB under fraud investigation and the 3 one just deleted everything. But the fun doesnt end there. Not as soon as I figure that the credit reporting agencies are going to see what these people did. A new entry was found on all my reports with $2000 under a company called Applied Card. I was in the process of buying a house and they were out to screw me. So I got the number to this Applied Card place and talked to a collections agent I started by asking for a manager after I gave the acct. Got the manager and said the whole coversation very calm, "I hope that you are taping this conversation. I have been in the collections industry before and this will be my last phone call to you" He started by saying, "so are you going to give up and pay?" I said, "nope, I am not paying something that I did not ask for" He said. "lady, your a deadbeat trying to get out of paying" I said, "nope, I just want the document I signed that says I entered into an agreement with CCB or with your company for that matter" He said, "we dont have to provide that information." I said, "don't take me for dumb, I have asked for this from other people and they send me junk, I want a signature, a photocopy, which is my right as a consumer and by the collection act is my right. I should recieve it within 30 day. I have been playing your little game for too long, I ignored you hoping you would all see the mistake. You all obviously havent. So if I do not receive this within 30 days. I will take your company to court." He said, "well lady, you can threaten, you still owe it, and I dont have to give you nutin" I then said, "ok, fair enough, remember if I dont recieve it within 30 days I will be taking your company to court and I will get far more than what is on that un activated card." I hung up. Then proceeded to prepare for a court case. 20 days later, I got a letter in the mail saying balance due $0.00. pays to play their game.
