My wife received a Cross Country credit card in june 2005. She of course used the card right after she got it. She made a large payment at the end of june that posted on july 1. A week later, she received her first bill for the charges in june. At the end of july she sent another payment, more then the minimum amount. She asked me to look at her account online and I notice the payment was posted on August 4 and a late charge was posted also for this day. I double checked the statement and it said the payment is due on the 29th. I thought she was ahead in payments.

She called Cross Country Bank and spoke with Diane. My wife always has me listen in on these calls. My wife told Diane what was going on. Diane immediately stated the payments where late. B.S.

I intervened on behalf of my wife at this point. I was quick to point out that we were sending payments in early and in no way were they late. According to Diane, if the payment arrives before the bills go out, they don't count. Ok, I'm starting to lose it here I'll admit, but stayed calm. This is where it gets better.

I told Diane the payment due date of the 29th is no good and should be changed to the 7th. Diane said she would send a request but it could take 2 billing cycles to take affect. WHAT, TWO BILLING CYCLES. THAT'S 2 MONTHS.

This is not a fair business practice. I have dealt with other creditors on changing due dates in the past. If the change wasn't immediate, it took affect within 1 cycle and no charges were made.

Well Diane said as a courtesy she would remove the late charge that was posted, however, if my wife did not make future payments before the 29th she will be given a late charge.

I still said she was not late. Diane asked if she could be of further service and I said yes. Expedite the due date change or I will be calling back. She said, since she could not be of any further service, have a nice day. End of Call.

Well I'm not satisfied and neither is my wife. I plan on being a thorn in their side until they make it right. I wish I would have checked this site before my wife requested this card.
