7 Months and we are still waiting for CSA to pay our claim:

We bought cruise travel insurace on the recomendation from our travel agent 'Vactions To Go' from CSA in July 08. In late August , 4 days before trip my wife was advised not to go by a specialist who wanted her in the hospital for tests. Feeling assured that we had the cancelation insurace we took the doctors advice. We notified both Vacations To Go and CSA that same day and they assured us that forms would be forth coming and it would be a routine formality.

In December 08 after much run-around we were told that due to my wife having seen the doctor in March 08 that her problem had 'likely' manifested itself and was therefore 'likely' a 'existing pre-condition', therefore the calim was denied.

(Our actual 'flight' insurance was with 'Access America' and they paid off within a couple of days of filing that claim.)

However, CSA told us to read the 'fine print.' My wife only had tests and sent home. Nothing has ever be diagnossed and she continues to work. We got screwed royaly by CSA.

Although our claim was dinied, we are not taking 'no' for an answer and we will continue to warn others of CSA's practices at ever opertunity.

Health conditions arising before insurance is purchased may prevent a claim from being paid

As the Claims Manager for CSA Travel Protection, I would like to take a few moments to re-introduce my company and respond to a recent customer evaluation on this report. CSA Travel Protection, founded in 1991, is a reputable travel insurance company held in high regard among consumers and travel professionals alike. In addition, the company is a member of the Better Business Bureau, U.S. Travel Insurance Association and Travel Industry Association. CSA's official position is to afford coverage whenever possible, and to look for coverage in vague circumstances. Travel insurance, however, does not cover every instance, and we are sorry that we were unable to afford coverage for this particular customer. Due to privacy laws concerning personal health matters, we cannot share details regarding the circumstances of this particular claim. However, the important point must be shared that health conditions arising before insurance is ever purchased may prevent a claim from being paid if the reason for canceling a trip is due directly to that same health issue. This would be deemed a "pre-existing" condition that is excluded on some insurance policies, including the one in question. If you have additional questions as to why this claim was denied, CSA's policies or travel insurance in general, please feel free to call me directly at 1-800-541-3522.
