So to start this off, I was looking for a job in sales and so I put my resume online like everyone else did. I got a call from the Ad group and was asked to come in for an interview. I had no idea what this company was about and how they ran things because I was just excited to get a call, anyway I got interviewed by a woman named Helen Davidov and the interview went fairly well. I got the job as an assistant to her and another woman.

On my first day they sent me to the back office with one of the presidents wife and was taught how to work the systems computer. I was taught how to put in the comissions for every worker and eventually how to make phone calls to potential new workers. They gave me a list of about 50 people to call and set up a date and time when they could come in. Let me tell ya, if you think you're special because they called you for an interview think again, They would just get all the resumes from Monster.com or Careerbuilder.com and print them all out and just start calling people.

By the end of the day they needed to make their quota of at least 20 people that are coming in for interviews the next day or the day after. If you've ever been to the office and look behind the desk in the big glass shelf there are numerous folders. Some of those folders contain pages on "how to get a interview" or "rebuttles on excuses". There's also a rule page that you have to follow.

In the time (3 months) I've worked there I've seen about 100 people not make it to the 2nd interview, about 60 people not come back after the second interview and about 10 so-called leaders being fired. When people get to being a "leader" people usually think that their job is secured and you won't get fired but think again, you just have to step it up about 4 notches then when you were first starting out.

I don't have any complaints about the ad group from my end because they treated me great but I don't want to see anymore people get suckered into this "great paying job".

When it comes to comission it's great but think about if you want to go door to door or business to business because only a certain % of people are actually meant for it and your clients aren't always happy to see you. You are soliciting you know! that's the bottom line. You know how in the olden days there's people going around home to home selling vacuums or something like that... and they were so annoying... guess what! that's going to be you but you're not going to sell vacuums you're going to sell cable and phone services and for the business to business guess what you're selling... PAPER!!! and staples.

Also, I know owning your own company sounds great but I've only seen one person in that group that's actually succesful and the other "big guys" are just not nice and so not professional behind close doors. I say, if you want a good comission job that's professional and not door to door go apply at an upscale department store like neiman marcus or nordstroms. At least that way you know you're getting the money you actually earned and not half of it.

I worked LA Marketing (now The Phoenix Group) and a couple different Cydcor offices in the Hepp Org and in California. I was frequently one of the top reps on my campaign and I had a large team. I love sales. So why did I leave? It has something to do with business ethics.


I not going to insult the field. However, I can say that the business is not what it appears to be and I found most Cydcor managers to be nave, ignorant, and completely unfit to be running a business. After my experience with Cydcor offices and Id advise you not work there if you are a female or find any of the following behavior or scenarios inappropriate . . .

 

  1. A 30 something year old assistant manager sleeps with a teenage girl on his team . . . and gets her pregnant . . . about 15 feet from where the the "owner" sleeps (they mightve tried to hide that one but 40 weeks makes it pretty obvious).
  2. Your boss actually argues with you that when a girl says NO! she usually means Yes . . . and then tries to prove it to you.
  3. Your boss refers to his admin as the third base coach in reference to her sexual activity before her boyfriend.
  4. Your boss tells you, I want to f*k you!
  5. Your manager tells you that every guy in the business wants to f*k you.
  6. Your boss, while in the office, refers to a girl on your team as  c*-dumpster
  7. While trying to train the new admin she freaks out and looks up at you in disgust as a response to the pornographic photos floating across the screen of the bosses laptop.
  8. Someone you see as a mentor calls you late at night to get you to come over to his hotel room.
  9. You tell a superior you arent interested and he is then a complete d*k to you.
  10. While in the office, your boss asks you or the admin if youve ever kissed a girl. . . . then he asks you if you would have a threesome with one of the Cydcor employees.
  11. Your manager says he wants to fuck Vera (sorry, I think she deserves a little more respect than that)

Good discussion about the The Ad Group (or The Advertising Group or Team Tag or whatever it's being called now). I worked for the Ad Group in Los Angeles about 2 months in the summer of 2005. I had just taken the California bar exam and was looking for some money in between passing the bar. I have posted many times about the Ad Group. I liked the administrator, Helen. The owner, Jamie Hepp, also was not horrible. But as always this business is horrible. Stay away. Run away. It's a waste of time. Happy Holidays!
