Cynergy Data is totally intertwined at the Director and Officer level with Pipeline Data.  Last year they took over handling Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) compliance for the Pipeline Data/Paynet Systems merchant account I have had since October, 2006.  On December 23, 2010 my account was automatically debited $185 for their yearly PCI DSS compliance fee which should have covered me until December 22, 2011.

Without any notification my account was automatically debited again for $185 on June 24, 2011 for a yearly PCI DSS compliance fee that would cover me until June 23, 2012.  When I contacted customer support to inquire about the 6-month, double-booking overlap of fees for the period of June 24, 2011 through December 22, 2011 I was told that they had simply re-synched all of their accounts to a June billing cycle ... and sorry, that was just the way it was ... and no credit/refund was due to me.  Messages left with customer support management have been ignored.

I have researched that complaints should be filed with the U.S. Department of Justice Financial Fraud Enforcement Task Force through the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) that was established by the FBI, the National White Collar Crime Center (NW3C) and the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA).  The link to their web site and online complaint form is at http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx

I to had the same issue with the Pipeline Data side of the business. The first 2 years with them was fine. However, the last year with the sudden June 2011 $185.00 PCI fee was clearly unexceptable, as correspondence concerning this was never sent to me. After a great deal of time calling, getting no where and not receiving calls in return to previous conversations with their CSR's. I decided to be done with it, pay the $350.00 early cancelation fee and move on. Begrudgingly, Pipeline reversed the $185.00 PCI fee. The following months, my billing statement with Pipeline Data was littered with quite a few additional fees. Pipeline Data conducts terrible business, at their customers expense. Thankfully, my contract with them was up in November 2011.

#3Consumer Suggestion

My credit card company was charging me $9.95 per month for not being "in compliance" whatever that meant. When I finally called them to find out what in the hell they were talking about, they referred me to some BS site. To be in "compliance" I had to take a survey and "pass" it to be in compliance. The BS company e-mailed my passing survey to my credit card company who stopped charging me the $9.95 per month, now that I was "in compliance". Go figure. What a scam.
