On October 4, 2011, Philadelphia police inspector Daniel Castro was sentenced to five years in federal prison after pleading guilty to a conspiracy charge. Castro appealed his sentence, but on March 14, 2013, he was resentenced to the same five years. Castro was the district commander of the cops who most robbed, assaulted, falsely arrested, and otherwise feloniously victimized me. Note that Castro admitted to his extortion plot but specifically denies that he his a criminal, a typical cop rationalization. Over a dozen other cops from their 24th/25th district headquarters have since been arrested. Also, two cops (Simpson and Liczbinski) subsequently died in separate on-the-job incidents within two blocks from where I was falsely arrested, whilst other cops were injured in nearby traffic accidents. Some would call that karma, but I call it justice. Of course, for every prosecuted (disproportionally minority) scapegoat, there are many other cops who commit the same and worse crimes - but do not even get legitimately investigated much less arrested. That is according to a recent study conducted by independent prosecutor Ellen Ceisler, whose de facto conclusion was that over 95% of Philadelphia police crimes are covered up. Inspector Castro was only pursued because he is a Latino and thus not politically protected. Castro's crime was relatively minor by Philadelphia police standards. Curiously, under Commissioner Charles Ramsey's reign, about 80% of the arrested cops are minorities. This, despite the fact that about 60% of Philadelphia cops - and almost all of the most criminal ones - are white! The white, political-hack officers who robbed, assaulted, and falsely arrested me were not even investigated. You see, I was forced to withdraw my internal affairs complaint against them under threat of yet another false arrest. There will never be any legitimate accountability in Philadelphia's disreputable farce of a police force. All of the statements herein are true and correct. All of the claims about Inspector Daniel Castro can be verified via googling.

I did not mean to imply that Daniel Castro is guilty of anything other than to what he admitted. Just because some of his subordinates were arrested does not make him culpable for their crimes. Castro was the target of an FBI sting, reportedly at the suggestion of the Philadelphia Police Department. Castro's proven wrongdoing is not even a drop in the police-crime bucket compared to that of caught-on-video cops who still have their jobs (for proof, google "Jimmy Leocal", "Jonathan Josey", or "Alberto Lopez".) Castro's only real crime was trying to use third-party muscle to retrieve money swindled from him in a fraudulent investment scheme. He was not captured on video feloniously assaulting innocent people, as were the three other aforementioned cops. I reiterate, Inspector Daniel Castro was used as a scapegoat and whipping boy to give the illusion that the police are being policed.
