Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

On Tuesday, June 24rd 2014 we called Data Recovery Services and spoke with Jamie about recovering data from a failed hard drive. I took the drive to their office and dropped it off.

On Wednesday Jamie wanted us to bring them another drive to use for parts. I took another drive to them.

On Thursday they informed me the parts drive I took them would not work.

On Friday the owner of our company and I were on the speakerphone with Jamie about payment. She wanted $1500 to repair the drive. At that time we decided not to go forward with the recovery. Jamie then lowered the repair to $900 to recover the data. We asked about a time frame since the data we needed was time sensitive payroll information that could be re-created but would be easier is we had the data. We needed the data no later than Tuesday. She said if I took them a check by 4pm Friday day so they could overnight a part Saturday Delivery we could have our data by Tuesday. I took a check to them at 3pm on Friday 30th.

We never received a call on Tuesday, On Wednesday I called and talked to Jamie. All she could tell me was it was on a recovery machine. I got the same answer every time I called, usually twice a day on the 2nd,3rd,7th, 8th, 9th.

On Thursday 7/9 I got an email from Matt from Data Recovery with an excel file listing all the files to be recovered. "Attached is excel file where you can view the file listing from your media." "Please let me know if you have any questions."I replied "When can I pick up my data"I never got a reply. I emailed Jamie"Any time frame to get the data?"Jamie's Reply"Yes. Can I call you in 30 min?"I never got a call.I replied I never heard from you yesterday. Please call my officeon 7/11 I called 6 times got hung up on twice and left a message.

Jamie finally called back and said it would cost another $500.00 to get my data back. And I couldn't have my money back.

After investigating a little more I found all of their offices are leased offices with no DRS employees. There is not a corporate listing in any state that I've found so far. Suing them as a local company since they are claiming to be local. We'll see how that goes.

I've seen many complaints about this comany claiming to extract data only to give a file list and extorting more money to provide the actual fies.
