I elected to participate in the Xchange leasing program through Uber, the internet taxi service.  David Maus Chevrolet is one of two dealers in Orlando that lease these cars.  I leased a 2013 Nissan Altima with 34,000 miles on it.  The car had a few scratches here and there, but for the most part it was really nice inside and out.

About 5 days into driving it, i noticed that the AC was blowing hot air at stop lights.  It would get cooler at speed on the highway, but would get hot when idling.

I called the dealership and spoke with my salesman.  He said he would have his sales manager call me.  He didn't do that, so I paid them a visit the next day.  The salesman saw me and avoided me the entire time I was in the dealership.  What a punk!

A salesman named Samuel came over and listened to my complaints, but then brough over the Used Car Manager who informed me that I had purchased a "used" car and that it has 34,000 used parts on it that break and that I was now responsible for it.  Agreed if I had had the car for months or even years.  I had the car less than a week when the AC began to shut down.

The Used car manager offered me a free diagnostic and then got pissy with me and when I snapped back, he got pissed, stormed off and told me to go pay for a diagnostic somewhere else as he walked off.  Real professional!

So I sat there in the showroom filling out my BBB complaint against the dealership and then Samuel the salesman came back over to tell me that he could do the diagnostic for free still.  I told him I was filing a complaint.  He asked me let them see what the problem was before i did that.

Ultimately another customer service rep came over and said they would try to make this right.  I am still waiting.

I said okay.  I sat there for about 2 hours before deciding to go to lunch.  When I returned I asked what was going on with the car.  Samuel asked me if my original salesman had called me to report what happened.  I said no.  Once again, that first salesman has no integrity.

Samuel informed me that they would be ordering a part for my car and said my car should be fine for the next few days.  It is Florida.  In the SUmmer.  My car is not fine.  My car is a 2013 Nissan Blast Furnace that I can't drive right now for my job.

I am waiting to hear back from the dealership on this matter.  There are many reports online about the 2013 Nissan Altima's Compressor and AC clutch being faulty and blowing mildew smelling air into the passenger compartment.  I was sold a faulty car.  The dealership may not have known about the problem, but when I presented the oniine complaints, they didn't seem interested.

To make matter worse, Nissan knows there is a problem and when I called the warranty line, I was informed that it was a few months out of warranty and they could run a diagnostic for $116 to assess the problem.  Most repair bills on this run $1300 to $1400.

I had the car less than a week. This is outrageous.

The Dealership Came Through

I am happy to report that David Maus Chevrolet came through and fixed my AC problems.  I filed a Better Business Bureau report and one on here.  Something must have worked.  The dealership offered me a loaner car and fixed the $1200 problem with my car.  I hate being the squeaky wheel, but sometimes that is all that gets people to do the right thing.  Thank you David Maus Chevrolet for making things right.  Much Appreciated.   Matthew
