Moving with DC Pro moving was a nightmare.  When I inquired about a move with them they gave me a quote of $387 for three hours of work (including an hour drive time to and from their office, which most movers charge so that wasn’t a big deal. It also INCLUDED wrapping of necessary furniture such as bed, dresser, etc…).  I was okay with that because I had gotten rid of so much stuff by that time they were only moving enough for a very small studio—very minimal.  They arrived early in the morning as they were scheduled.  It started off well, although they were a lot slower than they should have been.

In hindsight, I realize they were taking their sweet time as they were getting paid by the hour.  It took them TWO hours to load the truck, which was absolutely ridiculous.  So, I meet them at my new apartment and they demand to see the apartment so they can give me a “quote”.  I told him I already received a quote before I scheduled the movers.  He said it is COMPANY POLICY that they go inside the new residence to provide another “quote” of how much time they “THINK” it will take for them to unpack your belongings.  He refused to start unloading until I allowed him inside my new apartment. So, I let him inside my apartment and he tells me I owe them $867.  I told him he was out of his mind if he thought I was going to pay that. Then he refused to unload the truck. It took at least 30 minutes of me screaming at them and the main office to get things moving again. They were trying to charge me for five hours of labor plus like $150 for “moving supplies”, which was already included in the quote.

I ended up authorizing them $567 ON TOP of the $130 deposit I had already given them.  So, my quote of $387 quickly turned into $1,000 then “negotiated” down to $697.  Insane to say the least.  I was angry and ready to file a BBB Complaint (which they already have nine) among other reviews until the owner, Avi, called me.  He agreed to refund me an additional $140, which is one hour labor plus tax.  He did want to resolve the issue before it escalated to another bad review and BBB complaint.  I applaud him on that but I will never use their services again.  In addition to all of this, my wallet with $400 cash went missing out of my purse that morning.  The woman who originally scheduled my move told me they only accepted cashiers check or cash on the day of the move.

Is it a scam to steal the cash?? Possibly because they happily accepted credit card when I couldn’t find my wallet with all the cash in it.  I have looked everywhere for this wallet and waited to write this review until I had everything unpacked and was sure it was STOLEN out of my handbag.  It was indeed STOLEN on the morning the movers were there.  So, all in all the $387 move turned out to be about a $1200 loss for me ($556 for the move and an additional $400 cash stolen from me, plus all the giftcards I had in my wallet for various stores).  Avi seems like a decent man but his help are a bunch of crooks and thieves.  If you decide to do business with them be aware of where your valuables are at all times.  Two Marines moving is the only one I trust from now on.  Too bad they were completely booked when I needed them.  Good luck on your move.
