Dell Financial Services ripoff did not honor 6 month same as cash and also failed to honor rebates offered at time of purchase. Round Rock Texas
In 2003 I shopped on Dell's website to find what I wanted to purchase and also found that I could apply for a credit account with them and if I qualified I would recieve "6 month as cash". After finding the inital information, I called the company and ordered the computer directly over the phone and asked to apply for the "6 months same as cash" and was told I qualified for their credit account on the phone and also was going to get $200.00 rebate back for this purchase.
After I recieved my computer, that same day, I mailed in the required forms to get my rebate. When I got my statement the next month, the rebates had not been taken off the balance and there was no reference to "no interest for six months".
I immmediately called the company and was told by them that I did qualify for the credit account but did not qualify for "no interest for six months", which was not told to me at the time of purchase. They were extremely dishonest about this and I should have been told that I did not qualify for the "no interest program" but just their regular credit account. They don't tell you this.
So, I ended up getting charged like 21% interest!! I also asked why I didn't qualify for the "no interest" but I did for their regular account. They had no answer for me. Then I had to fight with them to give me my rebate. They claimed they never recieved the paperwork for this and that it was too late to get the rebate. They offered me instead a "free printer" or other equipment up to this amount instead.
I was furious and I believe very dishonest about this as well, stating they never recieved it so they can say they don't have to honor it. I finally got through to a manager who uneventually agreed to credit my account this amount.
I found them to be very dishonest and they should be held accountable for this.
