Duh, you just said what I said. I'm not saying that they have to pay for the disputed amount but they are responsible for the amount that's not in dispute. Brandee had gotten the computer that she ordered she was responsible for making payments on the computer. What, are you saying she could keep it at home and enjoy it with no payments at all? She was not responsibel for paying the disputed amount of $300.00 but she was to pay the amount that wasn't in dispute. Sorry Bob now I disagree with you.

I'm sorry to disagree with you CC, but under "The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act," "If the consumer notifies the debt collector in writing that the debt, or any portion there of, is disputed, the debt collector shall cease collection of the debt, or any disputed portion there of, until the debt collector obtains verification of the debt."

It is unfortunate that Dell Financial Service made such an error on your account. But that is not the norm. You should be happy that you took the proper recourse and the matter was resolved and that you received a credit to your account. I don't understand how the manager could have told you that it was o.k. not to make any payments on the account until the disputed balance was corrected. Under law you were still obligated to make payments on the account just not the disputed amount. Such as if the incorrect balance caused your monthly payment to be $40.00 and your true balance would cause your payments to be $20.00 then you should have made the twenty dollar payment. You were let off the hook. You became angry and upset over the errors on their part however it did not give you the right to stop making payments on the system that you had and were enjoying. They had a right to charge you late fees. Consider yourself lucky that they were taking off. And grateful that the matter was resolved and stop complaining Brandee.
