Ive been reading some other complaints about Deseret Industries on here and this is well, to point out that not all DIs are alike.  I expect to pay about 4 bucks for a pair of jeans, a dollar for a belt or tie, a dollar or two for a book and 3 to 5 bucks for an old CRT computer monitor.  This is generally the same price at all DIs except for the new West Jordan location.

I went over there to look around for any electronics, mainly wanted to see if I could get lucky and find a flat screen computer monitor.  I wanted to go to this one because I was burned out on the location down the street.  When I got there, I could not believe the prices!!!  On average Ive seen DVD players for about 10 to 12 bucks at DI.  Sure its still a little high but cheaper than new.  However, the WJ location wanted at least 25 bucks for theirs.  Walmart sells them cheaper brand new.  Then the shoes, the worn out, already acquired someone elses foot fungus shoes, they were charging 15 bucks.  At least down the street they were only charging 4 to 6 and a lot better condition.

I honestly didnt bother to look around anymore because I was just disgusted with the fact they were charging retail prices for used and questionably working merchandise.

So sure, Deseret Industries has gained on their prices somewhat and I think inflation has a lot to do with it, but what the WJ location is doing is just wrong.  Stay away from this location.  Any other DI Ive been to have much better prices.

DON'T SHOP THERE! It's a thrift store for crying out loud. If you don't like the prices they're charging, then go to Goodwill, Salvation Army or another DI. Surely the Mormons don't have such a strong foothold in WJ as to have run out the other thrift stores.
