Complaint Review: Desert hope - Las Vegas Nevada

So my experience at desert hope was not a good one. Let me first start off from the begining, with the people on the phones from American addiction centers. They get paid off commission so they will feel you whatever crap they can to make you fly out to Desert Hope, they informed me there was a spa, a swimming pool, personal trainer, etc. let me tell you it's complete bull. No pool, no spa, personal trainer comes once a week for one 50 minute long class and usually plays a movie for the whole class, and if you sign up to meet with him, he never shows up. Anyways let me go back to the begining, I get there at midnight and the person who was supposed to pick me up was over TWO hours late. I sat at the Vegas airport pissed off and stranded already ready to go back home. Then when she finally showed up she said she thought my flight was the following day, so there is clue number one of the unorganized disaster this place is. I show up to the facility, and they take all my stuff, phone etc which is fine I've got all that taken away from pervious treatment centers. Afterwards I finally get my room, they have a MALE walking in hourly to check my vitals and I'm in the female unit, considering almost 80% of these females have been raped/molested/sexually abused etc. that is completely innapropriete and made me feel so uncomfortable. When I mentioned it to the staff they ignored my concerns. I wake up my first morning there not knowing where to go or what to do. I walk out and find a fellow client who gives me a tour because the staff failed to do so. I meet my therapist, and she sends another therapist to do my intake, so they expect me to pour out all my information to some woman I will propably never talk to again. Now let me get started on the doctor, they have a doctor named Kaplin, who literally sits there and texts with his feet up on his desk the whole time. I have sat in that waiting room for hours for multiple issues, one incident I had a ear infection and finally after two hours of waiting walked into his office to see his feet propped up on his desk texting and has ANOTHER patients file pulled up on the computer for me to read. VIOLATION OF HIPPA. He asks what's wrong while still texting not looking at me once, and I tell him about my ear, he doesn't look at my ear at all, or even at me and said ok I'll give you antibiotics. And that was it. I filed a grievance, and of course I see him back at work the next day. Nobody cares I'm sure they just shred those grievances. Then we have the disrespectful staff, who talks s**t about other clients, telling people that clients are tattle tales, or annoying, or helping spread rumors like high school. The nurses who literally take 4 hours to give you medication, and you have to wait in this incredibly ridiculous line just to receive somethingn simple like Tylenol. There was a fellow client who was hallucinating and non responsive for days, and the nurses let her roll around in a wheel chair and look stupid until I finally stood up for her and said something to the nurses. Then they called 9-11 and she went to the hospital. They pay absolutely no attention to the clients medical needs. Then they have overnight nurses who work at the nurses station and they talk the loudest they can possibly talk not respecting the fact that the walls are thin and these girls are trying to sleep. I had to tell them repetadly to stop talking, and they thought it was funny to squeak there shoes on the floor one night when I told them to be quiet. Now we have the no fraternization policy that the BHT's like to pick and choose, some couples they will yell at, others they completely ignore. They also let all the couple fraternize in the back of the rehab facility after 9pm, where people end up having sex in the bushes. Good work ladies. clients have been bringing in cell phones, beer, weed, drugs... Etc. one client relapsed on meth and they let him come back in. another client literally broke a clients nose and they let him come back. I was at the nurses station one night getting medication and the nurse completely left another clients file open where I read she had HIV and HEP C. VIOLATION OF HIPPA again.  I did report that to my therapist but nothing was ever done, because I saw the nurse the next night, who knows if she even reported it. They also have this IOP bullshit that your now forced into after 14 days. So don't think your going for a 30 day residental treatment program, because after two weeks they will move you to a new building, sober living home, and give you a completely new set of case manager and case worker. It's completely unorganized and a complete scam. It's nothing but a buisness and was not beneficial to my recovery what so ever. And these employees are heartless for letting drug addicts who are trying to get better be treated this way. I will say miss Pat is one of the most responsible and caring staff members at this place, beside that I cannot name anyone else who did there job decently, or with respect. Don't waste your time
