Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I sold a Macbook Air A1466 (2013-2014) model screen to these guys on eBay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/151578220153

I put on the listing that I do accept returns but only for issues such as DOA or damage or if I incorrectly listed the item (and not buyers remorse) but because eBay tends to side with every buyer, these guys are trying to send the screen back because they ordered the wrong screen.

The first wrote to me to state:

"Hi,

I received the LCD assembly today and one of the cables doesn't match up, i believe its the webcam cable. the webcam cable on my macbook air is shorter. I would like to get a refund"

To which I responded:

"What model/year is your MacBook? Sounds like you have a 2012 or older model which uses a different webcam cable.

Can you please provide that for me?

Thanks."

And they followed up with:

"yeah i just checked it, it is a mid 2012 model a1466. i didn't realize that until now. i had no clue that the cables were different. mistake on my part."

We don't accept returns for buyers remorse and we stated that under the terms. We simply asked them to chaulk it up to a learning mistake and re-sell the screen on eBay themselves, but instead they want to return it. This means we're out our original shipping cost (eBay makes you refund the entire amount and since we provided free shipping, we're out $13.76. On top of that we now have to take apart a working laptop just to test out the screen they send us back to make sure that they did not damage it while trying to install it (which is an involved process that will probably take at least an hour.)

They do not care however because we called and talked to them and they said they would relist the item on eBay after a phone conversation, but then followed up with this response (and again this is not our fault, they bought the wrong screen, as the macbook air 2012 A1466 has a shorter webcam cable, we clearly listed the item as a 2013-2014 A1466 screen):

"I am sorry for the confusion the person you spoke with this morning was not aware of the item you were talking about. We are a business and have many employees and many different items we buy on ebay. The reason why we contacted you in the first place was because the WEBCAM cable didn't match up with the one that came with the part that you sent me. This is not buyer's remorse it is simply a matter of the wrong part being described as it doesn't fit the model I have."

There you have it, again blaming us saying that we didn't describe the part correctly, even though if you do any internet search out there, the 2012 A1466 has a different webcam cable than the 2013-2014 model

From ifixit:  https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/67566/Is+Mid+2011+MacBook+Air+%2811%22%29+display+compatible+with+Late+2010

More specifically:

"I dont' know about between the 2 models you mentioned, but I recently replaced the screen on my Mid 2013 Air with the display from a Mid 2012 Air.

what worked:

Screen mounts and display cord plugged in straight away, absolutely no issues.

what didn't work:

the FaceTime camera in the Mid-2012 used a different connector. Also, the camera plugs into the I/O board on the Mid-2012 model. the 2013 model uses a camera with a differernt connector that plugs directly into the logic board. I tried to get around this by using the logic board also from the Mid-2012 model, but it wouldn't boot.

Second, the wifi/bt card in the Mid-2012 is about half an inch shorter than in the newer model, meaning that the antenna cables will not reach the connections on the newer card."

There you have it, someone else confirming what I already know. The cable for the camera is different on the 2012 model macbook air than the 2013-2014 macbook air. These guys however are saying it's my mistake for sending out the wrong part.

Since they are the ones who made the mistake they should be the ones fixing it. I should not be held responsible for buyers remorse when it comes to buying the wrong screen. You can't buy a car part from an auto parts store, install the incorrect part, then take it back and yell at the person behind the counter that they sold the wrong part when the customer purchased the wrong part on their own fruition and installed it... that auto parts store is not taking that part back. We are not walmart either.

So I'd advise anyone selling to these people or even getting something fixed if things don't go they way they want they will instantly blame the other party. For that reason i'd advise going elsewhere... iPhones and macbooks are expensive pieces of equipment and if these guys screw them up I have a feeling they'll blame you rather than fix their mistakes.
