Rick Tull, Jr., the CEO of Design With Artisan contacted me on January 31, 2019 to design a website for his client.

The working relationship between my company and Design With Artisan, is my company is an Independent Contractor of Design With Artisan.  My company provides website design services to clients to help in the growth of their business.  Rick receives clients, he then outsources the work to us.  Rick also attempts to design websites under his company.  This was our first time working together, and ufortunately, will be our last.

Rick started designing the website for the client.  Rick completed the homepage, which was terribly executed.  He then hired me to complete the job.  The job was to design 6 webpages following his design style on the homepage and to pull verbiage and content from the clients current website and the wireframe.  I was ready to begin, so I requested a deposit.  I had to tell him I cannot work without a deposit...he initially wanted me to start work for free without a deposit, that is against our policy.  He finally paid the deposit, I started work immediately on the evening of January 31, 2019.  I informed him on when the project will be complete and kept him abreast throughout the design process.

Rick told me that he will pay me the outstanding balance once the project is complete.  I sent him a message letting him know the project was complete on February 1, 2019 ...I completed it in less than 24 hours since this was a “rush” project.  He told me he will let the client take a look at the website during his meeting with him the next day...Rick contacted me on the morning of February 2, 2019 and informed me that the client “hated the website”.  I asked what the client did not like about the site so I can make the revisions...my goal was to ensure Rick’s client was satisfied with the outcome.  The only complaint that he told me about the site is that the content appeared expanded and Rick said the content was expanded because the client viewed it on a Dell computer.  I did not understand why Rick did not allow the client to look at it on multiple devices.  I checked the work before I told Rick I was finished to ensure it showed well on desktop, iPad, and cell phone.  My content did not appear expanded on the other pages.  I asked was there anything else specific the client did not like so I can go in and make revisions, Rick would not tell me after asking numerous times.

Rick tells me that instead of me working on the site anymore, he will work on the site, and he wants me to build a brand new website for his client because the client now wants the site to be a replica of another company’s website.  I requested to be paid for the current project that I completed and compensated for the new project he wants to start...Rick tells me that he is not paying me, and wants his $125 non-refundable deposit back because he stated verbatim, “I cannot afford to lose $125 (forreal)”.  I completed the job, I asked for the issues with the site, he wouldnt tell me, he did not pay my outstanding balance and requested the deposit back.  He wanted the clients deposit back for himself and I believe he had no intentions on paying me in the first place.

In service based businesses, you work until the client is happy based on the original scope, especially with a website...it is stated in the contract between my company and Rick’s company that I am to be paid 40% of the project fee.  Every time I asked what the project fee was that the client paid, he refused to tell me...I was not paid what I was supposed to be paid, he would not show proof of the project fee.  Rick demanded I pay him back the non-refundable deposit because he couldnt afford to “lose” $125.  Again, Design With Artisan, Rick Tull, Jr. had no intentions on paying me the rest of what I’m owed.

Prior to our working relationship, he requested that I remove my company name from my website design projects to make it appear that his company, Design With Artisan, designed it.  That would be falsifying projects...I work hard for my clients no matter the budget, project, or any specs.  I also work hard for my business and the work I‘ve done.  I reserve the right to own my projects!

Rick accused me of taking the money from him, comparing our business to a restaurant saying that if a customer is not happy with his food, they get their money back.  Rick even proposed to me if I give him the deposit back, he will ”pass his next lead to me”.   From there, I told him to not contact me anymore and to remove my work from his website that he was using to promote his portfolio.  He called me and left a voicemail message as well.  I’ve had enough, I‘ve learned my lesson to be more careful who we work with, and I see how shady Rick Tull, Jr of Design With Artisan is.

As a result, I did not receive payment for the work that I completed, he is very unprofessional in all of his business practices, he is illegitimate, and a liar.  Take precaution if you consider doing business with this company!  If you work as a contractor with Design With Artisan, you may not be paid for your work, or paid under the amount that you were told in the contract.  If you hire this company for any web design project, I wish you well.

This is not how you treat people, and I promise you this will be handled, Ricardo.

Hey Tiarra,

I hope everything is going well for you! I also wish you the best of luck. I'm delighted you've moved on, and we wish each other well in the future.

Please keep in mind that I've come a long way in the last three years and was still learning the ropes of the corporate world. I never meant to cause any harm. My goal was to distribute work amongst other skilled freelancers. I would have liked to make amends and accommodate you, but communication was cut off, and I was immediately placed on a ripoff report, which is still active three years later.

Is it possible for me to recompense you and resolve the problem? I apologize for any mishandling of the situation on my part. If you can forgive me my number is below, please text so we can talk and I can accommodate you.

If not, and you would like this to live on the internet I understand. Either way, I truly apologize and I hope you are willing to forgive and resolve the issue.

Ricardo, your rebuttal is completely false, but we're not surprised.

I have a folder of all correspondence, audio recordings, phone call history, text messages, voicemail, emails, as well as screenshots.  Including the two harassing and threatening calls you made to me from one of your friends' phone number, which was actually surprising since we have went separate ways.  Do you remember that?

I performed a skiptrace on that number.  The call entailed you and your friends calling my old personal phone number.  After several harassing calls from you, I was forced to change my phone number.  Thankfully, you don't have any of my private information including my legal name and only my alias for business.  The harassing calls and text messages were sent to me on:

-December 2019 (2 calls)

-January 3 2020 (text message)

-January 3, 2020 2 calls) at 8:46pm and 8:49pm

After the incident in 2019, you had called me, with your mother yelling in the background asking "is that her", apologizing for the mishap and asked that I remove my review from your Google My Business Page.  I did not agree to remove it because it was in fact true and based on my experience, and you still had my company's work posted on your website as apart of your portfolio.  I never apologized to you, because there was nothing to apologize for.

The premise of the relationship dissolving was because you did not honor your agreement as a I chose to move on. I performed my role, completed the website, requested the revisions, then at one point I tried to obtain the details that needed to be corrected after your client said that he did not like the website, and you failed to give the list of revisions, then you requested that your client stated that he wants the website to go into a totally different direction, whereas the work completed would need to be completely expunged and done over because your client changed his mind --as you should know, as a web designer, that is not a revision and that is a new project OR there is a cost associated to make a full complete change.  The entire ordeal was very odd.  Please see original report.

There was no need to dissolve the relationship with me, because after the stunt you pulled, I asked you to remove my work, and to no longer contact me, but you continued contacting me and had others contacting me.  You followed up with voicemail messages (which I still have saved), text messages, a phone call to discuss the matter which you became aggressive, and several harassing phone calls, including text message.  As previously mentioned, I had to change my number as well as other matters to avoid the constant harassment.

I also want to further mention, there were no fake negative reviews left by me or any of my team to your GMB page.  The only review left was back in 2019, which was an honest review, and not defamation of character, as you made sure to mention in your rebuttal.  Defamation of character is me making false statements to harm your reputation, but that is not the case here.  Had you upheld honest business relationships, was forthcoming, I would have not constructed this report.

As a small business owner myself of 2 companies, I understand the hardships of starting out.  Though this incident is nearly 3 years old, I have moved on, and I hope you can too.  Being a contractor to a company that was/is still in infancy stages was a mistake.  Additionally, my goal is to never harm a business through false reviews, since I know companies rely on reviews to gain work.  I would never want no one to not hire you based on our working relationship.  My review from 2019 was solely based on the working relationship experience and not a false review on who should or should not hire you.

I truly hope that you are well and business has been great.  Please, I ask that you, your friends, family, and colleagues, to no longer contact me or I will take further steps for harassment at this point.  Your rebuttal is not harassment, I would like to make that clear, but contacting me directly outside of this report is harassment, Ricardo.

I have forgiven you, Ricardo.  Please, be well, and I ask again to not contact me directly.

Defamation of character - In accurate Report (complete hoax)

Over 9 billion fraudulent reports exist on this website. Literally, anybody can file a report against any person and/or business with no merit.

To provide context - Rick was interested in scaling his web design business by hiring contractors. In an effort to maintain diversity he hired Tiara Galloway for a project. They agreed to the scope of the project, which included three revisions, paying Tiara a $125 deposit and $125 UPON COMPLETION.

Tiara was paid the deposit and started working on the project. After Rick showed the client Tiara's draft, he wanted to change the design direction. Rick relayed the client's message to Tiara explaining how he wanted the site to look. Tiara then told Rick that would cost extra money beyond what they had agreed upon and refused to do any revisions until receiving payment.

As a new & small business, Rick could not afford to pay Tiara money outside of the agreement. He did not receive a single revision, websites always have a minimum of 1-3 revisions. As a result, the pair had to cut ties allowing her to keep the deposit for the unfinished work.

In conclusion, Rick not only paid the vendor (Tiara), he also had to finish the project himself from scratch.

Summary:

  • Rick lost his deposit to Tiara
  • Tiara was paid without finishing the work
  • Rick finished the entire project by himself
  • Rick was placed on ripoff report for an eternity
  • Tiara posted several negative fake 1-star reviews on Google (which were removed because they were fraudulent)
  • Rick's company has over 180+ 5star reviews across the internet
  • Rick won the Upcity National & Local Excellence Awards
  • Rick volunteers as a high school baseball coach
  • Later on, Tiara apologized and admitted to acting hastily out of anger
  • Rick didn't seek vengeance by placing Tiara on Ripoff report
  • Rick's goal is violence reduction through teaching at-risk young adults computer science

Rick fully forgives Tiara.
